i know people are loosing there jobs ,but, looking in the estate agents window today theres a bungalow reduced from 129,950 to 79,950 for quick sale , big drop , not that far off of 50 %.
if your a young driver in a job thinks arnt looking so bad, not long ago we couldnt afford houses on our wages , now its looking alot rosier
Ah but how safe is your job…
I work for a builders merchant they say new house building is at an all time low and the building game is ■■■■■■ , but we are still hitting our monthly targets doing enough deliveries for 2 drivers and 2 trucks.
Job security? I wouldnt bet on it but working ina sector that shouldnt be doing well but is is a little bit worrying, but at the same time pleasing.

work for eddie so no problems there , job for life really
You could reduce that house to £5,000 but im afraid my £120 take home pay this friday would still not cover the mortgage.
It will prob pick up for me tho i have been moved by my agency to another due to them losing master vendor status but worst thing was they moved my agency ‘planner’ a week before me so i didnt actually have anyone to get a booking off. ■■■■■■■ priceless!
oh young ADY THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SAFE WHEN ITS LIKE THIS.
well see whos right its just started.
At the company I work, drivers are being asked to take holidays as there isn’t any work for them…but this can only go on for a limited amount of time. I think there will be redundancies soon. I am a little concerned.

bulmers and longs in hull both had about 7 lorries stood today…
its a shame but i wouldn think eddies is a job for life especally as you are on days. he could quite easly get a tramper to cover your work.

And how many of us here have had a a job for life? quite a few I bet I’ve had at least 2 ‘jobs for life’. Made redundant twice as well. The jobs that seem least vulnerable are the 1st to go.
Tiger
I am a newbie, I just passed my LGV ‘C’ last Monday, got a job driving today, it may only be ‘puddle jumpers’ 7 and a half tonner, but it is a job and £450 a week aint to bad for that…I am grateful of the experience to be honest, no nights out and back to base every day, 3 drops a day…It aint all bad.
Stuff the media, stuff the world, go out and get whjat you want.
As my instructor said, “there is always a job for a good man” Seems he may be right…

Good on you mate, and only too right! its only those who grab opportunities by the short and curlies that get them.

I bet Marshalls and Dura Blox would disagree with you Your lucky Jammy as your delivering a range of products whereas the main building companies rely on Bricks etc
A Mate of mine is delivering for Henderson Garage Doors and says things are looking bad for them at the minute apart from the Wales area where deliveries are still about the same but elsewhere there are very few doors going out and the factory has already had redundancies, even the paintshop is down to a 3 day week.
I think it probably boils down to builders trying to finish properties off for Xmas and also in the hope they can sell them, after all, they wont sell half complete homes.
It’ll be interesting to see how things fare after the New Year
Far be it for me to sound like Reef
But what is a RESSION ■■
Our yard is next to Aarslef piling and Tarmac in Newark Tarmac dont seem to be sat doing nothing ALTHOUGH they dont seem to be as busy either I would have thought they would only use their own owner drivers but no the case theres a constant supply of their own trucks and other in and out of the place daily.
Aarslef also seem to have a few in and out daily and liek above although not under pressure they seem to be having stuff moving.
But like you say the New Year will be the test althoguh the building industry always has been quite seasonal we have to wait and see our yard is under staffed which I just hope will prevent anyone being laid off in the new year.
