In the USA the biggest private employer is Walmart, now not only is Walmart the biggest in the USA it’s also the biggest private employer in the world, yes the world. Now way over half of the people who work for them is on state payments as well as there wages like food stamps and what have you and the state puts up with this and lets Walmart get away with paying buttons to do the work, Now this is one if not the biggest company in the world making billons of profit and the state support’s this. I think maybe we call this here some think like zero hours or no contract. So when you go for interview they ask you what your state payments are and they work the job around it so the state pays most of your wages. Bosses of big businesses like that make huge donations to political parties to allow things like this to happen. The masses kinda know they’re getting shafted (we’re discussing it right now) but so long as Eastemmerdale Street On Ice is on at the weekend and the drink/drugs/hookers (delete as applicable) are flowing at the weekend they’re not all that fussed.

people are fed up with the huge increase of foreign workers, there is a driver shortage in the country not of hgv drivers but english speaking and born and bread drivers, go to any big firm and there all sick of polish drivers and the damages they cause but there are no english drivers to replace drivers like me who said enough is enough, there are only mugs like you with no back bone who still stick at it for crap money thanks to the influx of foreign drivers

its not just driving that has been attacked in this way, factory jobs, nhs, driving, and many other sectors are now full of people cominng here to work for less money or minimum wage. its hitting a lot of people now billy, your ok at the moment as it hasnt hit you yet but give it time and it will

your boss is not going to pay you more than he could import a pole to do the same job for a lot less

there is only one person to blame for you not having a driving job, that’s you, you put yourself on the dole, not any poles or any other immigrant, just you. As for my pay, again you have no idea how much I earn but feel free to make something up, it’s more than 3 peanuts though.

the conservatives have already said they will hold an in/out referendum on Europe. I think when it happens you might just be surprised by the result. You, and others like you, seem to think it will be a walkover but I fear you might be disappointed, yet again.

The negative campaign has concentrated on what the minor parties CANNOT do if elected into Conservative government. Labour have been persistently against “halting immigration” which is bad if the issue has impoverished you these last few years, but a good reason to vote Labour if you happen to be an immigrant yourself, happen to benefit in your life from one (maybe you’re dating one…?) or get paid more than they do in whatever walk of life you happen to come from. These are reasons to not vote Labour■■? - There’s more labour first-time voters for next week than many realise I think.

The reasons to not vote Conservative are that "Do we believe the referendum result will be put back - until the government of the day can convince us to vote YES, as was assumed last year with the Scotland vote - although that turned out rather closer than expected, causing a bit of a last-miunute “kitchen sink” push by the westminster establishment united once in kicking it all back into the long grass… The Scots who feel cheated are the same ones who now support the SNP.

That all being said, can anyone think of a good reason to vote FOR the Libdems next week? It’s all been about negatives and nothing positive from their camp from some time.

Those that could be moved merely come off the UKIP poll total in the south of England, and improve the incumbent Tory majorities there - but no gained seats!

What Cameron should have done is suggest to Northern Labour voters of 2010 - to vote UKIP this time - seeing as the Tories were never going to win those particular northern seats in any other form bar Con/UKIP Coalition…

The pollsters only asked the type of person who either doesn’t vote, or swings at the last minute, thus invalidating all their data.

The answers you get when knocking on doors - are most likely to be the accurate answer. Why don’t we still have pollsters doing this?

being serious here for a min, in all honesty i dont see why people are up in arms that we shouldn’t have the Australian emigration system ? it protects our skills people can still come here, i would love to move out and go to live in Australia

guess what ? i can not get in there country, should i shout there being racist ? should i scream that its unfair ? no i have to just accept i can not get into there country as there is no skill shortage, for drivers

so i will have to retrain and become a nurse to get a ticket in there should i wish

so is there system so unfair or unjust ? it seems smart to me as it protects there own drivers from people like me going over there and undercutting there wages, so i dont like it as it means i can not got there to live, but i have just got to accept it. so why can not we do the same thing to others who want to come here ?

I don’t rate mainline as an agency anyway,maybe others feel the same,and that’s probably why mainline cant get decent drivers,big mistake using Bulgarians and other east Europeans as a lot of vehicles tend to get damaged quite a lot,although I will say they are not all bad,some are very good drivers

A friend lorrydriver in Cornwall (yes, an Englishman, not a Pole) says a gets paid £9 an hour. That means he get gross less than £2000 per month. That is half of what a driver in Belgium costs. My stephfather got in excess of 4000 gross per month.

Are drivers underpaid in the UK?

If so, how comes? We ourselves notice the prices for transport are extortionate compared to other markets in Western Europe.

Getting a dedicated truck that will drive a 250 mile every day (10h max) costs us 550 Euros in Belgium (yes, with Belgian drivers and a Belgian company :wink: ).
Salaries are twice as high, trucks are the same price, fuel is indeed cheaper but income tax for companies and staff is much higher than in UK…
