Id love to know what people earn when they all say ITS OK, THERES BETTER outhere… The days of £700/800+ per week are long gone.

**NO,**don’t say that :exclamation:

Dont say you are on Jobseeker Allowense, otherwise you could drive for a Week getting paid by JS+ and have to take the Contract you are given.
Sadly that Topic which explains it is anywhere on Page 2 or more back the Forum

Its good that ‘Immigrant’ know’s all the pit falls about jobseekers allowance! :unamused:

maybe because that’s what he is on

There a few more Topics explaining that Matter.Just have a look around :grimacing:

The point I see is its a job offer. I’m guessing there are plenty looking at your post and thinking they would snap your hand off for the chance to start picking up the thick end of£500 a week to do the job they want.
As for me I always say you have to be happy in your work regardless of money, I’ve given up higher paying work to drive as the job I was in just depressed me, that was passed on to family life. Try it, if you don’t like it wrap in, nobody will force you to do it and there are plenty of others waiting.

Bit ironic immigrant can’t write a coherent sentence but can fill out a social form. You are a pouncing little flip flop wearing tinker

Everyone seems to be under the impression that this is a take home rate. I’d have thought it was before tax.

60hrs @ 7.75 = £465

Not even £485

i’d say it was before tax aswell, so its about £360 after tax for a 60 hour week sleeping four nights in a truck…

To put in more simply - absolutely ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■ :grimacing:

This is a fair point, but the more drivers take lower paid jobs the more we’re expected to work for low pay…it’s a vicious circle in which the driver always loses…and no, apart from sticking together, (won’t happen), I don’t know what the answer is either… :unamused:

ok, you wanna do the stick together ■■■■, you want this dude to not take this job in a bid to push up wages, right do your sticking together thing and how much are you offering of you higher wages to the OP? come on, money where you mouth is. anyone who starts spouting about drivers being too thick to stick together, oh the irony

£485 - £97 per day with £21.66 night out money on top, sure it’s not the greatest, but it’s not the worst either. seriously what are people expecting in the current climate, with an abundance of drivers why do firms need to offer more? to all the fantasists, when was the last time you got to the checkout faced with a bill for £100 and said that lot is worth £105, here you go my man.

I have had an offer of a job and wondered if you guys thought it was a fair wage

The Job is Class 1 Tramping 4 Nights out per week approx 60 Hours

£485 per week plus £21.66 night out money all parking tolls etc paid

Mon - Fri, No weekend work or bank holidays 4 weeks holiday plus Christmas and New year off

Would appreciate some feed back thankyou

I must have missed something serious after I left 12 years ago because the company I worked for paid a lot more than that then, and the company before that did also. Have wages in the UK dropped that much ?

General wage levels here will get even worse yet before they get better. That’s ‘if’ they get better.Just think what the situation in North America would be if the Mexicans could work there without any restrictions or need to take a US test and could also run wagons in and out including cabotage and the government then raised fuel to around £6 per gallon. :open_mouth:

I’m impressed with such wonderful and diverse comments that have come aboard, I have found that as a female it is even harder to get a job, especially in these hard times, I’ve had he usual how old are you, are you sure you’ve got a class one etc etc, even down to mmmm your female !!!
Over the last 6 weeks I have applied for in excess of 300 jobs, and this week I’ve had three job offers, I have taken then one I want which is what I’m talking about wages, etc and now I’m sat at Dundee waiting to get tipped, I love driving and I love the job, I can do the job just as well as anyone else, and I’m pleased and happy actually quite proud of myself as I got the job
And they are still looking for good drivers !!!

Apparently !!! Yes

Go girl, do what you gotta do…

Its easier to find “better”, when you are out there, you certainly won`t find it watching Jeremy Vile…

Wage deflation is here to stay, everybody is under pressure to reduce costs, it ain`t just drivers who are getting kicked :open_mouth:

If you know they want more drivers, how about putting it on the vacancy board and give fellow Trucknet uk’ers a head start on the pack! Just a thought.

And within this rant is all the evidence you’ll ever need to see why drivers are treated like ■■■■ and are happy to work for crap wages…

There is nothing ‘fantasist’ [sic] about wanting a fair wage…just all the idiots that share your view that prevent it from ever being a possibility … :smiling_imp:

Anyway - good luck to the OP - and remember that there are some decent paid jobs out there, don’t become one of the drivers that is happy to work for nowt… :sunglasses:

so,what do we pay the bills with, whilst we`re holding out for better money

The money is ■■■■■■ don’t take badly paid work it only drives wages down.

So, have you taken the job or not?
