To be fair I take that junction at 40 in a car, it’s a bona fide example of a dangerous junction.

TBH the junction in question is the A444 crossing the A5, Indeed a bad junction design, and should really have the A444 re-aligned and Traffic Lights installed at the crossroads.
The stretch of road thats hatched off used to be another lane, but got dropped to single lane dual carriageway fairly recently (within last 10 years) due to accidents caused by 2 lanes of traffic merging right before the A444 junction.

I live in Nuneaton and was unfortunate enough to be at the junction a few years ago when some foreign guys in a van were killed in an accident there.
The road might be classed as a dual carriageway but in this instance I reckon because of the junctions up ahead the speed limit has been dropped for safety. It must of been changed when the two lanes were made into one.
I am not saying i was speeding excessively as i realise that it is a dangerous junction but this was at 4 am in the morning, just over 40 when i seen the 1st flash in mirror then 2nd flash sat nav was saying 42mph

the speed limit is signed as 50 mph here from longshoot junction to atherstone now.
therefore 40 in single and 50 in dual… but that stretch of dual is worthless IMHO only 100 plus yards to overtake.

It is a dual carriageway as it is seperated by a grass verge.

I can assure everyone IT IS A DUAL - if I am wrong then I’ll rip up my licence and never drive again - is that enough convincing
