The publication of the Commercial Motor archives gives us a vast amount of fodder for discussion. The thing is, it is only a fraction of the knowledge that exists- the rest is in the heads of the people who post on this forum. We just need to look a bit harder for things to say. This, and other forums like it in foreign lands, are becoming an unprecedented record of the history, of what is essentially a minority interest subject. In years to come, the quality of historical books about the vehicle industry will be far superior, as a result. Keep at it, chaps.
^^^^ Spot on.
Please. Don’t any of you lose heart as there is much to be learned from the excellent threads and contributors on this forum.

The site has had peeks and troughs for many years its just how it works i don’t think interest is waning maybe just entering quite spellYes I think what people have said is correct, peaks and trough’s but there is plenty of interest throughout the forum.
I’ve not been on to long but some interesting subjects and old pic’s.,friendly banter no problem, hateful stuff
no interest. No keep it going fella’s,just surprised that noboby seems to be on from Fallings Park
Mike.
Your right there Mike it’s a great pity that there has been no one on the thread that worked in Fallings Park,Trev H has done his best to comment on Guy Motors but as he was only a visitor to the site his knowledge,is understandably, limited! Doh!,we only ran a few Big J’s when their production run was in the final years but the ones we ran were all honest, reliable, fleet motors that did what was asked of them.Obviously they were never in the same league as the Scanias and Volvos but then again they were designed in the early 60’s and remained,more-or-less unchanged for 20 years. However, who knows,we might yet attract an ex employee from Fallings Park, fingers crossed ! Cheers Dennis.

Why do they change something that 'aint broke, they really are a ■■■■■■■ nightmare at P/bucket,I’m struggling with it as well John, but you can go back to your sunbed, we have to put up with freezing our nads off weather!! You lucky blighter!! Cheers Dennis.
bubbleman:
Hello lads,D’ya know what…I was thinking the same as Dennis about how interest has seemed to have eased off lately,I must admit some days I cant be bothered to put anything on the scrapbook thread just because I cant put interesting stuff on it anymore…its become boring for me and I dare say boring for people looking in…compare recent clippings to the early stuff and you’ll see what I mean…classic pics then and crap stuff now…the threads ran its course.
I look in on my favorites and still enjoy reading good memories and sometime photos from company archives ,the recent thread of Hammonds has been enjoyable, another thing that springs to mind is posters who are frustrated that they cant put pictures on because its a little complicated so then we all miss out and probably they go away and never return.
I still will look in every day as I suppose its because I’m passionate about lorries from the past and although I’ve met only a few other t/netters face to face there are quite a few on here that have become pals with through the forum…it still compulsive to log in though.
Cheers Bubbs,
If ever I get fed up of your thread shoot me!
Occasionally if things do get a bit quiet I revisit your and the 70’s thread and become absorbed in it. By the time I read about page 50, interest is shown in other areas, even if you only post one photo a week, it is worth seeing. I like your eclectic choices
Funnily enough, just yesterday, almost exactly the same post appeared on another forum I frequent.
I honestly think its a seasonal thing, you know, like that Seasonally Affected Disorder they invented a few years ago?
The cold damp miserable weather just makes everyone so depressed that they just can’t be bothered with anything, including my favourite forum!
It will pick up again, honest!
I was in and around transport all my working life, from living in the North East, (so the Tyne threads are great), then in West ■■■■■■■■ (ditto the ■■■■■■■■ thread), and finally in Goc, aka South east Wales, so you can see that I have an interest in most threads on here. (oh, and I worked on AECs for seven or eight years, when our lorries were on trunk from Wales to Newcastle, so there’s another one).
Sadly though, I never, ever took any photos, so I’m reliant on you fellas to jog my memories, now that, like Harry, I’m “long retired”!. Keep up the good work, chaps.
takes some time once and then to do work ,read old treads like bubbles to get inspiration and maybe a drawing
, ,be happy
son is home from seawork after six weeks, but dayly i look over the tread and check meny, but to meny it,s hard to replay as a,m a finn
,meny treads about i.ll don,t know about but still interessting reading ,and CHEERS TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE BENKKU;lets all trye to keep GO
Sometimes you log on and think that the site has gone stale and then log on another time and it is buzzing with old and new posters. I think all us old boys love to come on here even if we say nowt we still like to read other peoples posts. Sometimes I dont post because I am not 100% sure that I am right in what I am saying but I do like putting my experiences on the site and hope that some of the ladas will assosiate with what I am saying

Precisely why I don’t relate some of the many tales I could tell, plenty of folk are still around to prove that maybe my memory isn’t as good as I think it is! Will have to wait another 40 years or so…

What are you bothering yourself about Cliff,if it is your considered, honest, opinion, get it put on! The worst that can happen is one of the “inmates”,sorry posters, wakes up with a hangover and for reasons best known to himself decides to “take issue” with your post ! So what!,invariably some of the other lads will jump to your defence regardless, even if it’s just to get a meaningful debate going !!Take “Carryfast” he mainly posts a load of old Bollox all the time and he gets more stick than a U.S. Army Mule but it’s like water of a Ducks back,he just carries on un-daunted!So remember, don’t take any comment “to heart”,it’s just a bit of decent banter with no harm intended. Cheers Bewick.

But if you are an “in-comer” Johnny you have to be resident for a century and even then the natives will still eye up suspicious like! Dennis.

Just thinking about bubblemans post, it wasnt so many months ago when he said he would not be able to continue to 200 posts. He is nearing 400 now and still comes up with some blinders
hmm lets see…
100,000 more page views a month on this forum alone than two years ago?
dont think so however the forum always every goes a bit quiet Jan- May ( to use a term , its a seasonal trend)
Interest waning? nah dont think so somehow
