Great story Rikki, made i laff…I worked for a guy who did a lot of work for sainsburys and rdcs, anyway one day i got a load for Lidl Erith, never been there in my life, so off i go, booked in round one side of the warehouse, then had to travel half a mile to the other side of the site to tip, booking in gave me the door number, so i duly backed on, and got my newspaper out, after about half an hour, the driver next to me said i have to unload myself, so being as i like to be awkward, and like a row, duly went inside to the desk, gave them a bit of paper i was given at booking in, then they said to go to my bay, find a truck and unload it, the warehouse bod would tell me where i had to put it, so i pointed out that i was employed as a driver, which meant collecting from point A and delivering to point B, that went straight over their heads, so i then said, if you dont want the goods, in can take them away, to which they replied, OK..so i made my way back to the truck when the phone goes, it was my boss,
Didnt i tell you it was a self tip…NO
…well it is, so i replied that he had better get his backside down here to unload it, as i was employed as a driver, and im not going to, to which he replied
Ill give you £30, cash, to which i replied, ok, i
ll call you when i`m tipped. Back inside the warehouse, i was shown an electric truck, and being clever, said i cant use one of them, so they duly brought me a manual one, wish in had kept my big mouth shut, ha ha i did get an electric one though, anyway by the time i was finished, so was the truck, i bashed it into posts, it did look a mess with all the panels bent.
The motto of this story is if drivers do not unload themselves, Lidl + Aldi cannot compete with the big supermarkets, and would have to put their prices up, which means I will pay more for my shopping, and thats not fair.
