Ive seen them out and about ,they have shelves inside and the bloke gets the stock off the shelves for each drop ,they have handsets ,its like a mobile shop with no cash involved ,not my cup of tea ,a m8 used to work on the agency at hemsworth ,he said the artics are a good job but the 4 wheelers are hard graft, not a driving job as such, each to their own though
this one.
sorry mate never seen that lol, yes ya mate is right artics are a doddle, and the 4 wheelers are completely different from us, they do the baby drops 20 - 25 per day max drop would prob only take 15 min to do, and they are all close by.
As far as I know they don’t have tail lifts just steps to access the rear doors.

Like you say each to their own.
The ones ive seen just have a single door at the back and fold down steps ,like a walk thru body, allways see them delivering to canteens ,they dont mess about turning the fridge off there in, out ,paperwork left inbetween cases, gone, next drop

LOL I did that for 2 weeks at another depot of ours, wasn’t keen on it, they could start at 6 am and be done for 1 pm easy but you are on the go all the time. I will stick to my 5 drops on coast, least I have a tail lift and I don’t after rush about.
A steady drive to the coast ,5 drops then a steady ride back in the summer sounds like a dream of a job ,id keep it hush hush or they will be sticking that on a rota and you will end up with a milkround inner city

Baby drops? Take it from someone who did 3 years at Tamworth on food service delivery 35 drops were average not bad considering sometimes have a cage with 70+ boxes and got to find 1 box then pick the rest of the order then across roads up steps to kitchens etc.
Think you better stick to full cages having someone do the clever stuff for you and enjoy your 5 drops must be tiring that many.

I know some access points are crap mate, and yes you do have a cage with maybe 70+ items on it to pick, I only did 2 weeks what you did and found it was a piece of ■■■■, Besides my 5 drops I do have to handball 24 cages of food to the customers kitchens, and also have to cage up 8 pallets of frozen then handball them aswell, I’m not saying I’ve got it easy just a strenuous job that keeps you fit.
Oldboy NDF:
Got the job start on the 28th, its 5 out of 7 but monday to friday at the moment which i found surprising.
26k at 45 hours a week appears to be a couple of 7.5 shifts and 3 10’s.
Having a ride out next fri with a regular to see what its like.
I don’t mean too be negative ,but my mate went on for them and he was working thurs-mon( or a shift including w/end,it may of been one day but along time ago so can’t remember exact shift pattern), but he was ending up with short shifts through the week and then long ones on a sat/ sun,he asked if he could do longer ones through the week and shorter at the w/end ( or shorter ones at w/end now and then), never happened so he left.
But know a few on for them now ( on Arctics) and they seem happy with there lot.
im sure ill get on ok, im not scared of a bit of graft.
I was told at interview that the new contract there starts in sept, its changing a little and they said each run would only have an average of 17 drops unlike at present with 25 plus. Thats when the 26k salary kicks in across the board instead of bonus?
Got a run out with a driver this friday so ill get a better look at things.
Been there for 3 weeks now…yes its bloody hard graft, but you can be done and home for 2.30pm, which is good in my book…you can take your time and be done for 4-5, but id rather get on with it and have an afternoon in the sun…some drops are nightmares (sack barrowing 6 loads of chips down a steep cobbled ramp) but the majority are a ■■■■■■■■■ onto bays, or straight into cages…for what it is, the money is good…a lot depends on what round you get, if its a 2 hour drive to get there, you are in for a long day, as its a 2 hour drive back

The average number is drops is supposed to go down because Brakes are moving towards full multi temperature deliveries across the board. Currently, with the exception ( I think ) of logistics the majority of customers that have both grocery and frozen orders receive them on seperate delivery vehicles.
In reply to previous comments. The lorries are definately not mobile shops! I drive a frozen/chilled lorry and the goods on board are loaded in bulk. Each order has to be picked using the location code stated on the invoice. All well and good until you have to find an odd item in amongst 500+ boxes at six in the morning!
Interested that 26K is on the table as we haven’t been given any idea of the salary when the changes come into force.

You work from hemsworth ■■?
Iv been told that the new starters are going to be on a 5 over 7 shift pattern…I don’t mind the graft but don’t fancy delivering on the high street on a Saturday.
That’s the only thing that’s stopping me applying to be honest if it were Monday to Friday I would love it.
The job was advertised as 26k when i applied, they told me at interview it was definitely coming across the board in sept, i will question that a little more. They also stated its mainly mon to fri as they have an overtime crew on saturdays?

That doesn’t sound too bad but if they make you sign a contract saying 5 over 7 they can have you working that contract come September when the 26k comes in.
Anyway the bloke rang me today to arrange an interview so I will ask him.
Went out yesterday with a driver who has worked there for 9 years, he said the new contract comes into force on the 15th of sept and they have all had the new contracts. They have also been working mon to fri for ages. Job seems ok will take a while to get used to the runs but after that im sure it will be fine, i start a week on monday.
The run i did yesterday was Leeds center, the lad knew it like the back of his hand and we were done for 2 pm.
