Like any other job interview when it comes to your turn to ask questions how many hours a week? what days do you work? leave entitlement etc etc.

I’ve even take to ask why the position has become available…

Ive seen them out and about ,they have shelves inside and the bloke gets the stock off the shelves for each drop ,they have handsets ,its like a mobile shop with no cash involved ,not my cup of tea ,a m8 used to work on the agency at hemsworth ,he said the artics are a good job but the 4 wheelers are hard graft, not a driving job as such, each to their own though

As Seth said, not my cup of tea. In fact I’d go as far as to say that I’d avoid like the plague any company who’s drivers I regularly see sprinting from their cab to goods in and then back again!

Them jobs are ok if you are 21 yr old ,a ex marine ,its summer ,you can work with the public, you like town centres and traffic wardens, your a dab hand with a sack barrow and you are never under the weather and in a good mood,if not dont bother :unamused:

£26,000 per annum should be £31,000 per annum

Brakes Logistics is the best to be on

pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver pick deliver all day long :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Let us know how you get on and what days/hours they are offering.
I know they want something like 20 drivers due to them moving a lot of business from leeds to hemsworth.

Brake’s yard used to back onto the yard of a place I worked in the West Midlands. The drivers were always sticking their heads through the fence and asking if we had any jobs going. They had to deliver to cafes, hotels and restaurants and apart from the continual handball and trying to park, they also had to handle cash and chase drops for payment after they had unloaded.

That was a few years ago, but I doubt if the job has changed.

Got the job start on the 28th, its 5 out of 7 but monday to friday at the moment which i found surprising.
26k at 45 hours a week appears to be a couple of 7.5 shifts and 3 10’s.
Having a ride out next fri with a regular to see what its like.

You worked down Vulcan road then Liberty Guy?

Thats when it was Pauleys in Bilston then brakes bought it and moved to Tamworth.

Word is that Brakes Coventry is closing and merging with Tamworth so Tamworth is looking for bigger premises.

I’ve done Brakes and I’ve done B+Q home delivery. I go back to B+Q sometimes when I feel I’m getting fat, I never return to Brakes.

Its not really a driving job is it  its more like a mobile shop ,i saw one of their blokes on friday in bradford ,fair play to um its propper graft :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I work for brakes in the south west and we only get 26k which is pretty poor if your getting 26k up north.

I do the logistics side no picking at all just full cages of food to pubs, yes it is hard graft but you soon get used to it, and you will never have to join a gym again lol.

Well good luck with the job mate, if you decide to take it.
