Infringements on my digi card

mick_borthwick:
I was told that the digi card has 28 slots=28 shifts/days

So it will clear after 28 days after the event.

Mick,

Did you hear that on a DCPC drivers’ hours course by any chance?

No didnt hear that on a CPC course. Mine did go after 28 days

Hi Mick,

I only asked because I’ve never heard of this “slot” thing and it’s the kind of tosh that some DCPC trainers ‘invent.’

A didgi-card can hold data spanning a period of many many months.

No offence intended but I very much doubt that the data was wiped from your driver card after 28 days, how did you check it ?

the cards probably hold historical and current data, drivers would normally have access to current data which would be about 28 days long but the historical would be different? The bumph I have seen about the cards goes on about 28 days but that would be a constant read write area rather than a chronological memory maybe.

The only thing 28 days is about is so that the authorities can see that you have had sufficient rest at the roadside. 29 wax discs or 28 days stored data on a chip

If you go into the display and scroll back you WILL see many months stored data

thanks, I got some of my bumph from here digital-tachograph.com/docum … ry_Is_Full

Any help gratefully received

This ^^

The cards were designed to hold a minimum of 28 days of data and I think this is where the confusion has arisen from, in reality the card holds many months of data as can be seen by following Wheel Nuts advise.

My card gets downloaded everyday and it had gone after the 28 days.

I would like a wager with you and find some data previous to 9/01/2012

You better contact the DVLA and arrange a new card, your current one is faulty if it isn’t retaining data.

I got one today 3 mins over the 4.30 i did 2 hrs had a 15 break then got stuck in traffic on hungerhill heading for the M61 I thought i would be at the drop in time but sadly got caught again 7 mins from the drop and couldnt stop anywhere so just got to the drop and parked up for the other 30 mins tacho said 4.33 mins and when I tried to do a printout guess what no flipping print roll left … Thats the First and last lime i take a last minute job at FEDEX apart from 1ST drop address was wrong and was stuck with a pallet blocking the rest of the drops on the truck they were on the bloody phone every hour asking (how you doing how long to the next drop )) after the 4th call i just said when i get their and hung up …then at my last pick up they phoned again askin what time i would be back at depot pmsl just said when my other Half hour break is cleared and Hung up again …

I presume you got home again and got a new paper roll. If so you can still do your printout tomorrow if you think that the company will jump on you for the infringement.

Like your fuel tank you wouldn’t need a spare can, but you do need some in the tank, just like the paper rolls

Dont know!! It is a newbie forum section!

If the data is in fact being wiped after a download or after 28 days then yes I think there could be a fault with your card.

On the other hand the fault could lie with you, in which case there is no point contacting the DVLA for a new one. :stuck_out_tongue:

Baffled, you say you was 5 mins over your driving hours trying to get off the Motorway, erm why did you just not stop at a services prior to this it is called forward planning, there is no excuse for going over the hours like this unless of course there is servere traffic jams, or major accident etc,

Still write it on the back time date place of said jam and they can contact the Highways agency if it was actually an incident, if it was due to you thinking i have enough time to to get to point A from B, then you have no excuse 1st time an accident but doing it again no excuses!!

What makes you believe the data has been wiped from the card, how did you check it ?

If you want to see how far back the records on the driver card go you can check with the card in the tachograph.

For a Siemens tachograph, with the card in the tachograph and the tachograph on the standard display:

  • Press “OK” - The screen will show “Printout Drive 1”
  • Press the down arrow key about four times until the screen shows “Display Driver 1”
    Press “OK”
  • The screen will show “24 hour Display” (or something like that) Press “OK”
  • The date will flash, use the down arrow key to change the date, keep pressing the down arrow key until the date stops changing, the oldest date you can get on the display is the oldest record on your driver card.

Be warned you could be pressing the down arrow key for some time though
