In or Out- the EU referendum mega thread

Winseer:
I got killed shorting the euro @ 1.30 in 2011 (went to nearly $1.50 instead) - I’m in no hurry to short a market being upheld by the Chinese again thanks. I made the mistake of thinking it was “Only being upheld by other nations in the EU, in particular Britain”.

What a surprise an undemocratic exploitative Communist shower of zb supporting an equally undemocratic exploitative Federal zb pile founded on the Communist agenda of people like Altiero Spinelli. So what really hit the Pentagon.Chinese cruise missile or Boeing airliner. The former would explain a lot about what’s happening in the appeasement by the west of that Commy control freak zb hole of a place that both us and the free world have lost loads of people fighting against previously. :imp: :unamused:

What a surprise.Brexit hijacked by the Tory Europhile cheap labour agenda. While people like David Davis and Kate Hoey get sidelined and forgotten. :imp:

Whilst The Sunday Express says that Theresa May could be ‘crowned Prime Minister within days’ The Sunday Express also says that Andrea Leadsom would invoke Article 50 as soon as she was PM. This is just your normal arse covering, stirring sh from the media - well they have to be good at something. :unamused: Tbh I would treat both story’s with a pinch of salt.

The Conservative Party leadership race needs some clarification as some seem to think that gaining the most Conservative MP’s means you are the winner. The race is a two-parter; Parliamentary and Membership. The first part is not about gaining the most votes and ‘winning’, it’s about surviving. Even if May had three-quarters of the MP’s on her side when it comes to the Membership vote the two are treat as equals. When Cameron won the last race he started off with just six MP’s backing his cause. The whole point of this exercise is to have one more vote than the last guy - and therefore survive into the next round.

At this point Theresa May has just 89 Conservative MP’s who have declared their support for her
Andrea Leadsom 27
Micheal Gove 25
Stephen Crabb 22
Liam Fox 9

That’s why I believe on Tuesday Liam Fox will lose out and be the first one out of the contest. The second vote on Thursday is the interesting one. Gove has stated that he is not interested in the PM job, and he does not have the support of a huge amount of Conservative MP’s, so it’s a possibility that he may instruct his supporters to back Leadsom and therefore be out of the contest with a prominent cabinet position in his back pocket and a guarantee of fronting the negotiations on Brexit. This would leave Crabb unable to compete on the following Tuesday and we’re down to two - May and Leadsom. Something that should be taken into account is that 158 Conservative MP’s have not declared their intention. That’s almost half of the MP’s who have to decide by Tuesday.

The membership then have their say and Conservative party members tend to be more to the right and more euroskeptic than non-members. May is not liked within the membership for her appalling management of the Border Force and immigration issues, and the internet and email probing scandal. This is not written in stone just yet.

By those figures she’s somehow got more support than all the others combined so far. While if the Cons are as Eurosceptic as they say then they’d obviously have David Davis at the top of the pile not Tharesa May.Oh look he isn’t even there what a surprise. That’s in addition to the fact that in the case of Brexit the Cons and Labour would have been expected to do the decent thing in recognising the Labour contingent in that vote in calling for the co operation of Kate Hoey to act in co alition with Davis a part of the negotiations.Eurosceptic Cons bs.May crowned as PM and EEA membership is obviously the Cons agenda.Unless they wish to show some actions and make some statements which suggest otherwise. :unamused:

There is a story that Tuesday evening Boris met Andrea Leadsom for a short one-on-one discussion in her office. He tried to convince her to join him by offering her Business Secretary and an EU negotiating role. She rejected it out of hand, insisting she would only take Chancellor. Boris refused and in the 24 hours that followed there was incredulity that Johnson would offer her the role, since whoever is in charge of that department will have the CBI breathing down their neck and have their negotiating role kneecapped. Boris never made Andrea a better offer.

The Sun reports Boris eventually attempted to offer Leadsom the Chancellor job on Wednesday in a handwritten letter to be handed to her by Nick Boles but she never received it. :open_mouth: The House of Cards theory is that Boles deliberately didn’t give Leadsom the letter to destroy Boris.

I’m probably in a minority but I think Gove did the right thing. I think Boris would’ve been brexits answer to May, rather disinterested further than his own ends. Gove standing, and pretty much declaring disinterest at his press conference, paving the way for May vs Leadsom. Just hoping that whilst I expect all of Gove and Fox’s backers to support Leadsom, she can pick up the bulk of Crabbs backers too

Repercussions of the Brexit vote? Whats rather pathetic is the EU bullied and threatened one of their so called leading members right out of the club … and they still cant understand what the problem is.

Realistically if there is no one within the Cons who are willing to tell the CBI we had a referendum and the result was leave in large part based on ending the cheap labour immigration scam component of EU membership. Then that’s yet more reason to join the remainers and then try to smash the thing from within with the help of other pished off west european electorates.

The Beeb is on a mission to destroy the Brexit vote

Well worth a read.

Andrea Leadsom herself said that she would invoke article 50 immediately on the Andrew Marr show.

FFS.Just change the constitution to a Confederal one giving the MEP’s supremacy over the commissioners together with the right of national opt out, substitution and VETO and then let’s stay in.In no particular order. :unamused:

If it isn’t a matter for the police regards incitement and a national media outlet trying to subvert a democratic process nothing is.Although ironically they are pushing at an open door being that the Cons definition of ‘Brexit’ isn’t exactly what was voted for.

Interesting. I didn’t see that interview, partly because I keep away from the The Establishment Marr and partly because I had 100 other things to do on my supposed day off. :unamused:

And people have just started to realise that the BBC is a puppet media outlet for the elite both here in the uk and in the EU The BBC is scum and has been for years
The people of this country should cease paying the tv tax in protest

Carswell may be kicked out of UKIP tomorrow:

Speaking to Iain Dale on LBC this morning, Farage says of Carswell:

“What would he know? We find someone in our party who doesn’t agree with anything the party stands for. It’s a very odd state of affairs. I don’t get involved with [expulsions]… That will be up to the party’s NEC to decide on Monday… It is a very odd state of affairs. Why would you join a party like UKIP with me as the leader, and with our policies and manifesto, and from almost day one of joining disagree with everything we do. I find it really, really odd.

I’ve said from day one that Carswell is a Tory stooge. Ultimately the rifts in UKIP are class based. Farage has targeted the working class vote, which has worked well for the party, whereas Carswell, Suzanne Evans and their circle are middle class Tories who become agitated when talking about immigration, but it’s the chief concern of less well off UKIP voters. The way the feuding has been conducted has been detrimental to the party though and he deserves booting out.

It’s time for UKIP to decide whether it’s a full on Nationalist protectionist party for the interests of the indigenous working class or not. That statement is certainly a move in the right direction in that regard.Farage seems to have smelt a rat in the post referendum goings on.With good reason.
