In or Out- the EU referendum mega thread

The people of this country should cease paying the tv tax in protest

I stopped paying it years ago
The usual scare tactics letters appear through the door saying things like “we have opened an investigation” and “You can take this letter to court with you” all in big thick red letters. It gets filed in the bin with the other junk mail. They’ve been sending me those letters for years but I never pay it. Why should I be forced to pay for what is in reality a subscription service at £13 a month? ■■■■ that. There’s never anything on the bbc channels I watch or that is even any good. And the news is always edited and doctored to report what I am against, namely left wing bleeding heart ■■■■ so im ■■■■■■ if im gonna pay for it when I dont watch any of the channels
If its such “brilliant value” and “people dont mind paying for the quality of service” then they can make it a scrambled service and see just how many people think it is worth paying for.

I have never paid it, yes the monthly threat-o-grams they send which repeat nearly as fast as content on the tv & they do occasional send out a goon or 2, but the no contact approach work the best ,  but people need to do it en mass to send the desired message to them , and they claim that the licence isn’t just for the bbc channels and covers all broadcast tv :unamused: :unamused:

We didn’t bother with tv licence for a while in the late 90s
The first time they found out we got a fine, don’t remember how much.
Couple of years later we were done again, I was away, the wife went to court and was told if it happened a third time she would given a custodial sentence :open_mouth: ■■■■ unbelievable.

As Snowman says, the signal should be scrambled where we are given a choice whether to subscribe or not.

You bunch of bloody criminals! - I say stood on my moral high ground! :grimacing:

Don’t answer the door to them, don’t give your details if you do, tell them to f off they have no powers at all they are a private company crapita, they lie , but rely upon people implicating themselves for prosecutions, they have a data base of all those who pay it, and target all other addresses that don’t they have no clue if the occupier watches tv as it is broadcast , come to think of they don’t even know who has a tv or tv recording equipment any more

Like I said mate, I was away at the time.
If I was at home, make no mistake, they would have been told to ■■■■ right off, my Mrs is a bit more polite and trusting than me.

yes they will take advantage of those unaware & they do tend to target women as court statistics show a greater proportion of women than men , due to the cowardly tactics they use

OVLOV JAY:
I’m probably in a minority but I think Gove did the right thing. I think Boris would’ve been brexits answer to May, rather disinterested further than his own ends. Gove standing, and pretty much declaring disinterest at his press conference, paving the way for May vs Leadsom. Just hoping that whilst I expect all of Gove and Fox’s backers to support Leadsom, she can pick up the bulk of Crabbs backers too

Could someone please tell me what Boris’ own ends are that are so apparently scary?

As a local resident in the Boris Island dream - I’m one of those who WANT it to go ahead!
We’ve already got planes on final approach to both London City Airport and Stansted landing over my neighbourhood. There’s little downside to the project - but a LOT of upside, especially for a driver who wouldn’t mind getting into the “Freight Forwarding” game.

If May is to be a Remainer PM - then she must be the ONLY remainer in the entire cabinet. Jobs for the Brexiteers - or else! That includes sticking Osbourne in the skip, and possibly lining up Farage with this Ministry for Brexit thing she speaks of. :exclamation:

Blimey if the Cons were that committed to doing the job properly then obviously the last thing they’d want to do is go out of their way to put a remainer in as the PM.Bearing in mind that Ken Clarke has stated his preference for Tharesa May. :open_mouth:

Nor would we need people like Gove making a big thing in the papers about delivering on the Brexit manifesto promises.IE that would/should have been expected to go without saying regardless of who wins the leadership.Starting with Cameron invoking article 50 on 24th June.Together with a statement that EEA membership is off the table. :bulb: :unamused:

express.co.uk/news/politics/ … e-Minister

As for Farage he’s probably kicking himself in that he’s probably ditched more and increasing potential UKIP allies on the other side of the channel. In the process of returning and handing over more powers,to more zb wit Federalist enemies like Clarke,on this side. :frowning:

Boris wanted to be pm, and it would’ve happened if he didn’t make the massive blunder of saying he basically wanted to keep the status quo with trade and movement. I’m pretty sure May will do the same when push comes to shove

I don’t fully understand the British Political system protocol and procedure, , but why could Boris not run for PM just because that treacherous little 2at Gove stabbed him in the back, he had support from other members afaik, so why could he not just ignore Gove’s tactics and crack on.

If that is a stupid question  I apologise for my ignorance.

Farage resigns.

robroy:
Farage resigns.

Has anyone checked in on desypete? He’ll be suicidal!
I can almost picture him sitting in an armchair, in the dark, bottle of whiskey in one hand and a magazine with Farage on the cover in the other, tears streaming down his face going “Why?, WHY?”

i think you will find i said in a previous post that ukip job is done, Nigel farage has done his job i dont have a clue what ukip will do now ? other than maybe try to hold the political correct lot to account as we all know they will try to worm there way around the free movement of people

it took farage over 20 years and i for one salute him for being able to stand up to the mob and carry on with what he believed was right even when he was the laughing stock of all and sundry
i love he speech when he finally got to say THERE NOT LAUGHING NOW ARE THEY

that goes to all the ukip haters all the political correct loonys who never thought there was a cat in hells chance Briton would vote out of the eu or dare to say we have had enough of migrants over filling our lands

so a huge well done and enjoy his rest is what i think towards farage. no other leader has done what he has done and i love anyone who stands up to a pack of wolves and comes out on top
he goes out at the top the best way to go
so good luck to the guy

So you won’t be happy to hear that legal steps are being taken by some to try and get a full debate and vote in Parliament then Pete?

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36700350

Clearly it’s being pushed by remainers, who apparently includes academics. I use the term academics loosely as I’m not sure they are that bright if they think the politicians are going to go against the will of the majority of voters! :unamused:

As for Farage, I don’t think we have seen the last of him, and suspect he will return in some guise when we have an election…

robroy:
Yeh, standing up to the dcpc really showed em Pete eh?

Btw are you still unemployed?

you not standing up is what shown them robroy get it right, but not just you as you was like all the rest who didn’t make that stand. but then your the smart one who thought there would be a driver shortage and if you got your card you would be able to cash in which i am glad didn’t happen.

still at least there was a vote taken thanks to the hard work of a guy who stood up to being made a laughing stock like your always first in line to try to do, he stood up for over 20 years trying to bring about the end of the eu madness
he has won and maybe the cpc card will be a thing of the past, maybe there might start to be a real shortage of drivers and wages do go up to attract our own people into the game ? who knows ?

but at least there is a hope that things might start to change thanks to a man who did take a stand. dont you wish you had a bit more back bone about you robroy instead of being like an old women who points fingers sniggering at what others have done trying to belittle them grow a set of balls man

they will try anything an everything i have come to expect it so its no shock what ever they try to do it is going to cost them there profits after all, i mean they dont want to pay higher wages to there staff and it suits them nicely to have migrants flooding the lands, as in there heads the tax payers can foot the bill there only interest is there profits which will attract investors

Why would anyone want to trust Boris any more than May bearing in mind his stated pro immigration stance.IE as said previously there’s no way that he would have done anything much different to May in that regard. We’re on course for a remain EEA agenda regardless ironically with Gove’s ( stated ) position being against that.

Blimey if EEA member state ruled by May and Corbyn’s socialist rabble getting stronger every day is your idea of coming out on top who needs UKIP losing the fight. :open_mouth:

Seriously the reality of what he’s done is probably kicking in and he knows that UKIP has really zb’d it all up big time. :unamused: :frowning:
