What I do know is if in the unlikely event of that being a genuine scenari, .and I had the choice of ■■■■■■■ off to a different country on my own and saving myself, whilst leaving my wife and family to whatever horrible fate, or going for the option you give me,.I would more than likely do that, fight…and hope not to die…scrub that I’d definitely do that yeah… 
I ain’t a hero by any definition, but I do tend to stand up for my responsibilities…since you asked.
But we are talking hypotheticals here ain’t we,.and as most of us realists know there is only a small percentage of these people that have faced that choice, the majority are here for the milk and honey.
The far better choice would be up sticks with my family,.head for a country where I was welcome,.and respect their way of life and culture and obey their rules, not abuse their hospitality,.and work to provide for my family whilst waiting to get back home.

They should get a bed and basic food to keep them going until they are removed from the country (as they came here illegally). Instead we put them up in four star hotels , give them the life of luxury by their standards and seem to give them priority over citizens of the UK who need the same help. The way to big benefit payments - is to join a family already here, and live under their roof as an “Adult Dependent”.
That family then employs you for the maximum amount that can invoke the most benefits without being tapered…
“Hand Car Wash”, “Local Laundry Services”, “Food delivery on un-registered vehicles”, or even “Odd jobs in the local community”.
There’s one single family that acts as “Collector”, then doling out payments like some kind of Benefits Godfather character, whilst the new illegal arrivals - stay completely off the radar, as they are not claiming a damned thing in their own names, as they’d only get the base payment if they did, which isn’t much.
“Housing Benefits” are by far - the biggest leak in the benefit system, and the reason the House Market - hasn’t completely collapsed yet.
The government has become the biggest landlord in the country , not by letting out council houses - but rather by commandeering places like Travelodges and Days Inn etc around the country - filling them up with not LEGAL migrants that have a job lined up - but just the dross that are here for any purpose other than paying taxes, and being of service to the wider UK community that they are “off radar” with, and hence do not serve.

Now,if that same person pays the smugglers who operate the boats to get here illegally,we look after them.But,morally,what is the difference? Just because they are here,why does it suddenly change our responsibilities?
We cant take in every person from countries that are at war,otherwise THIS will become a war torn country.Then,we are are WE going to go?
If we continue going down this road,if for example,you have two countries at war with each other,if people from both sides decide to come to the UK,we can’t take some from one side but not the other because that would mean we are racist,so we have to take refugees from both sides,and then,once they are here,what happens then? The reason illegal immigration is such a problem - is we, as a country - simply are not nasty enough to take a more “Israelian” approach to this problem, let’s say…

Bit pointless when I say facts like “illegals cant claim benefits” and then have to repeat it 50 times. Go and look it up - gov website, citizens advice etc. Nowhere will it say they can.
There has to be some acceptance of basic facts to move forward. Getting a berth on a barge isnt “claiming benefits”. Claiming benefits has a specific meaning.
