I’ve been offered a job. The work is interesting, European low loader work. It can be dirty work. And it’s 100% legal.
It’s no secret that i’ve run bent as a nine bob note in the past, I’ve earned very good money from it.
I had a chat to the bloke and he wants me to stick to the 90 hour per fortnight rule. I will probably max out my driving hours in week one, Therefore i’ll only do half a week ish after that (56 hours week 1 + 34 hours week 2).
He’s offered me £500 per week in the bank, I won’t be home much, maybe once a month.
If i was doing monday to friday and home every weekend, I’d say it’s probably about average nowadays. I could be completely out of touch.
IMHO, from what I hear I’d say it was a bit low even for being home every weekend.
But then is money everything? I work on the principle of finding a wages/stress/work satisfaction balance. If you enjoy the job and conditions then maybe the wages can be a bit less.
I would pass on a very well paid job if it was going to make me miserable and go for the one on less money that kept me happy and stress free.

Hang on, are we talking about maxing hours and getting £500 per week!
Here I was thinking the europeans were cheap, must be the uk-euro drivers too
Seriously, unless you are in the middle of nowhere £500 should be easily achievable on a trunking run, home every night and weekends off.
That’s about what I took home last week,62 hrs,tues-sat
N.b it’s tues-sat, but as I start 11 a.m sat I could be working up until 2 a.m sun morn

Are we talking about take home or before tax?
If it’s enough and you like the work do it.
But I can earn that from 5 to 6 nights clean work and home every shift. But I won’t say I could earn it every week.

Trunking? Far too boring.
Home every night? No sleep, and a waste of fuel.
Not for me.

I was thinking about the same on the money side.
Other work? narrrr just playing with big tonka toys.
I dont get much less (with overtime) driving a rigid, take home last month was just under 1800, two nights out and no weekend work average about 48 hours a week, time and a third after 7.5 hours time and half after 9.5 hours and £25 per night out.
Though we get a uniform allowance to about £60 a month.
Limey, are they gonna pay that for the second week ? if so, you`ll be quids in…if the job suits ya then go for it boy, but i thought you were on eurowork anyway. As for the dirty work, a pair of good boots and overalls, and theres nothing to it ( ask Rikki ) and cant be much more than a few chains/toggles/straps and twisty thingys good luck phil.

It’s the same money week in, week out.
I was on European work, But a judge had other ideas, She locked me up. (nothing to do with lorry driving or smugglerising).
Nice blonde piece she was. Obviously a lesbian or my charm would have knocked her bandy.

Always a bonus if you can play with the toys
To give you an idea. I’m maxing my driving hours every week (no WTD here)
Nights out 5 one week 6 the next. All UK. 750 per week self employed on fridges
Depends if it floats your boat. If I did a Saturday or a bit more overtime I’d be collecting that for no nights out and all local work.
I think that to drive anything all day every day is worth £100 per day before tax as a minimum even for a 3.5tonner

for that ! I would consider relocating
£500 in bank, nights out on top right?.. I would think it is, but just curious.
