I'm dead tempted to switch his fridge off

Another classic dozy thread, I am kinda admiring you in a perverse sort of way Mr dozy
And Mr beaver… Steady on (in anticipation)

Some compaines set their fridges up for stop start only, constant has been disabled on them.

I agree it’s completey out of order to switch off a fridge, could be carrying anything and affect hundreds of people. Like it could have important medicines on board that could all get ruined etc. Or if its food it could go off… still get delivered and end up giving folk food poisoning awe cos you took a huff.

Ohh. I switched someones Fridge off :exclamation:
Was running on -22 Centigrates. When asked wots on the Trailer he said ā€œYogurtā€ :grimacing:

hahaha really

A colleague of mine was woken by a reefer parking next to him.
The driver proceeded to uncouple and park the other side of the truck stop

Now he was a little mental so turning the fridge off was a given. But winding the legs up and dropping the trailer to low to recouple was a little harsh.

True story apparently.

Cheers for that ’ endorsement ’ Drifty!

Just watched Field of Dreams (for about the 50th time), and it reminds me of Dozy.

What delicate little flowers some of you are. Turn off someone’s else’s fridge because its inconveniencing you a bit.

There are some pricks about that’s for sure…

+1
Some of the posts on here beggar belief.
If your so precious that the noise of a fridge unit wakes you up and has you convinced its ok to waste thousands of pounds worth of goods then maybe nighting out isnt for you. Do days and be home in your own nice quiet house every night.
N.B before anyone starts, im not saying moaning about a fridge parking next to you is wrong if there are other spaces, im talking about the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  who genuinly believe they have a right to switch it off if it is disturbing their beauty sleep

Judging the look of some drivers Cold One, I’d say there is a good few drivers having some interrupted beauty sleep…

Must be laying awake next to a reefer every night

Great film.
I’ve seen a slightly different version called ā€˜Field of Wet-Dreams’
ā€œTouch it and they will comeā€

Also naughty versions of the scary ā€˜Saw’ films more aptly named ā€˜Sore’.
ā€œThere will be ā– ā– ā– ā– ā€

Also Shaving Ryan’s Privates, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  Miss Daisy, etc etc

The list is endless…

You never heard of frozen yogurt then ā– ā– ?

Nice to see Dipper Dave never loses his touch…!

Something is bothering me about these fridges - are the cabs really well noise insulated? If not, how do the drivers sleep with that going all the time throughout their driving career? Except the bloke who drove off to park somewhere else of course.

No Trev, they are not. I pull fridge trailers, but I do not overnight in them

Word on the street though, is that I ’ may on the odd occasion ’ have an hours kip. But unless I turn the fridge off, it makes one hell of a racket starting up.

If I have to use a MSA, I make sure its on continuous setting, and park as far away as possible to other wagons.

This might be thinking out of the box, I hope your sitting down… Are youready?

Ear plugs, :bulb:

I wear earplugs all the time when I go to sleep, home and work, cant be without them. My I-phone alarm is plenty loud enough to wake me, I cant hear the night heater with them in, or the cab fridge starting, and it helps with the trailer fridge on.
I use these ones…

For all you know that fridge could be carrying a highly unstable isotope that needs kept cool , and also carrying some dodgy chemicals, turn fridge off it warms up and keboom everything within 300 miles reduced to the landscape of Mars planet .least then the fridge won’t bother u

That clears it up - thanks Eager! I guess the trick is, if anyone ever mentions tramping & fridge in the same advert, ask for the Premier Inn card before accepting the job.

With regards those earplugs, if you deliver to noisy sites they often have a very large stock just inside the door which tend to dispense a lot more than you actually need in one shift. Can’t of course say where you can find them…cough Kingspan…but worth keeping an eye out…cough ahem Walsall…for those little machines.

As for the dodgy chemicals - could suggest the theoretical possibility of this to Boris. Within a week he’d have all fridge traffic banned from the capital and make all fridge drivers lives soooo much easier.

A good nights sleep is a right not a privilege. You would know doubt be one of the first to complain if a trucker crashed due to falling asleep at the wheel.

The only person who should be ā€˜inconvenienced’ is the driver who cant park his vehicle in the proper area…

I think a totally new thread with maybe a poll, if anyone can be patient enough to ask suitable questions is apt for this current thread.

I think because Dozy started it all off it is not taken as serious as I think it should.

There probably is another thread lurking in the background but we are now talking 2016.

Topic title - Fridge drivers and Non fridge drivers…let the battle commence.

Personally I’m not interested (I’ll participate in the thread though), but if a fridge parks next to me when there are ample/designated spots he’ll cop the lot!!!

I was parked at Tebay in the designated fridge area with the donkey engine rattling away one night, A motor backed in alongside of me (not a fridge), the driver
stuck his head out of the window and politely :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused: bellowed, you’d better not be leaving that thing running all night!! I politely replied
yes it will run all night why don’t you park in the main park?? His reply was, I can’t get a picture on my telly over there this is the only spot it works!!!   :unamused: :unamused: Ps the fridge ran all night. Regards Kev.

You did exactly the right thing and if someone is getting into a lather about a television signal :open_mouth: that is a whole new thread on its own

nothing against fridge drivers but i dread it when they park next to me at services/truckstop. the bass and vibration they give off, plus noise means i know im in for a bad night of sleep. i dont blame them if there are not any bays for them.

most services have no designated areas for fridges, no security cameras looking over truck park, no night watch men. but all have cameras to make sure u pay for the night.

I was on fridges on and off over the years, but never got used to sleeping when on them.
I do get a bit ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  if one parks next to me tbh, but I wouldn’t switch another driver’s fridge off.
