Some of these poor people who risk their lives to get here are not all bad. The world is actually full of people trying to better themselves, this is the only way some poor souls have of doing and living something /somewhere better. Not all are good, granted but you cannot tar them all with the same brush. These are real people who have had a bad hand dealt to them in life. I welcome them if they are genuinely bettering themselves. Each case needs assessing on an individual basis.

And where exactly has this 1 in 10000 statistic come from? You or You’re mate perhaps who has had this outrageous experience of them moving in next door to him. I have worked all over the world and in countries that are so terrible according to the media, I have witnessed and been offered more hospitality in these countries than I get in my own. Some of these refugees live in pure poverty with no escape or any chance of anything but living a cruel and hard life. If they gave to trudge halfway around the world to try to get something better then that is what they will do. If their only escape is by paying criminals to get here then once again they will do it. By being illegal immigrants, this is only a term as in they do not have the permission to leave or enter from either governments which they would never get given their current situations. Its a human crisis not something to be pig headed about.

All of these people who perished were from Vietnam. A country I have traveled extensively.
When I became very ill in Hanoi it was the locals who took care of me. I was passing out, I was being sicked through more than just my mouth. I was dehydrated. And it was the owner of the guesthouse/hotel who went out of his way to get me medical aid and support. Without him I might not have made it. A poor man who wanted to help another human.
Similarly it is was a local in Vietnam who picked me up in their old van and carried me and my broken down motorbike to a place for it to get fixed rather than me having to push it for hours.
Goodness is not 1 in 10000. And I have much more help of getting support from a poor local in Vietnam when broken down than and uk truck driver pulling over and offering me assistance. They are human beings who just happened to not be born into a rich country like us.
Similarly, the young students in the big cities who will do free tours so they can practice their English to help them get better jobs. What these people go through just to survive is remarkable. And anyone who condemns them all as ‘criminals’ is beneath contempt in my book.

They are not illegal in their own country.
It’s only when a foriegn national pays an underground organization to knowingly smuggle them across a border do they become an criminal immigrant with no rights to be there.

You might be overthinking the whole thing there chief.
Everyone has a right to life but what some people seem to conveniently forget is the responsibilities that come with those rights.
If a person travels over continents with the express purpose of becoming a parasite to their host nation then dont be surprised if you encounter an amount of derision from the locals.

If the place they’re leaving is so dreadful, and I’m not disputing it is, then why not settle for the first safe haven available. Surely there couldn’t be anything so dreadful in Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland or France that they’d be willing to risk their lives AGAIN just to make it to the UK? I’m sure the rules state that the first safe country they arrive in is where they seek asylum. From there, there are LEGAL ways of moving here.
The second point is the lack of concern for the drivers who’s truck they hitch a lift in. The unknowing driver could be faced with a fine of £2000 per person, potential loss of liberty AND a ruined cargo with associated costs of that.
The first act of these people upon entering our country is an illegal one, and that is
violation of immigration law. That’s discounting the fact that they have probably damaged a trailer and goods first. Not a good first impression on your new country.

Quite simply answered, if the first country in which they reach isn’t as relaxed in their immigration policies such as the UK, then obviously they head straight for the best country passing through safe countries to settle in where they are more likely to be treat the way they feel they should be. It is our government that has created this invasion, pretty much like Germany created the initial wave of every immigrant in the world travelling to Germany on an open invitation. You cannot blame the people, it is a fault of the government and their policies for dealing with immigrants that make people do what they do.
