How ■■■■■■ narrow is lane 1 through the roadworks around crick?
I’ve only been through about 6 times…and been on the grass twice.
Ffs lane 3 is wider than lane 1.
I can’t say I noticed last time - certainly never been on the grass
Some ■■■■ pulling a caravan…well outa shape, first time.
Then some ■■■■ sucker in a rigid.
Hog both lanes and do exactly 50. That’ll upset the TNT and Stobart ones up your arse all the time.
I do 45…but it still don’t stop the mother ■■■■■■■.
Call me a wuss but I sweat on lane 1 near the concrete barrier.
It mentally exhausts my brain.
I think one slip either way and its the end.
Personally i wish the speed would be 30 for HGV through road works
Saves me dripping.
I hate going south at the minute, the amount of near misses I see when I go through them is insane. I’m amazed there isn’t a road closure daily and it’s all the heroes needing to do 1mph more wobbling through lane two causing near chaos. I stick to my lines and if they hit me then ■■■■ em but I’ve seen some that look like you couldn’t squeeze a ■■■ paper between the vehicles
I don’t like going through any roadworks with narrow lanes. Scares the ■■■■ out of me!!!
Narrowest motorway contraflow i can recall.
Its the tailgating heroes in lorries that get my goat (you expect it from idiots in cars and compulsory for brain donors in white vans), jammed right up the arse of the lorry in front in the middle lane (who’s already 3’ from the car in front of him), no field of vision haven’t a bloody clue where they are in the road, not a hope in hell of stopping and if the one in front drove up the bank they’d have no choice but to follow.
Why FFS, Darwin award candidates who call themselves professionals, my arse.
Mentioned it to a mate the other day…he said he’d had his mirror spun round.

Been through it dozens of times, no issue. I’ve never seen anyone go on the grass.
Are you concentrating on the kerb or just looking ahead normally?
Same as M6 South roadworks, always some ■■■ that HAS to get past everyone else and once their unit is past yours they don’t seen to give a ■■■■ about the trailer drifting between lanes, anyone caught going over the speed limit in roadworks should get a automatic 1 month ban…give em time to thing what carnage they would cause if they caused a accident just to save themselves an extra cpl of seconds.
I’ve always said through roadworks on motorways where there is no hard shoulder Hgvs should be banned from overtaking.

This isn’t a dig at you personally Commonrail, but why, in free flowing traffic do you do 45 as opposed to the legally signposted limit of 50? It’s not 1950’s Britain anymore with long lazy days etc. people have deadlines, places to be etc. it’s no wonder that car drivers break their necks to get in front of trucks before the roadworks start.
I appreciate that a 5mph differential over say 5 miles of roadworks won’t in the grand scheme of things cost much time, but it’s all about perception imo, and the perception is that you’re holding up vehicles for no good reason.
I for one am heartily sick of catching up self appointed “roads policemen” in width restricted works who are sat at a large percentage under the posted limit with nothing in front of them for miles.
Our vehicles are fitted with one of the most accurate speed measuring devices on Britains roads. There’s no excuse. If it says 50 and it’s safe to do 50 then do it ffs!
I forgot this one, about a month ago coming south, everyone cruising nicely with decent gaps at about 48 mph give or take a couple of mph as things varied, hero in Stralis with container on trailer comes bowling down the outside jammed up cars arse overtaking a bunch of cars, swings into middle lane, overtakes me and lorry in front, then pulls into inside lane tightly in front of said lorry, undertakes the next bunch of say half a dozen in the middle lane, then swings across all three lanes to the outside lane.
Best of it was he appeared to be limited at 53 and i cruised by him comfortably around Rothersthorpe services, there’s tight deadlines and there’s blokes who are eventually going leave a trail of destruction in their wake.
What did all that achieve over the length of the roadworks, if it accounted for half a mile and 40 seconds i’d be surprised.

if it was a taylors truck, it happened because he was in lane 3

Get ya sen on the A5 then
my mate runs down to Swindon most mornings avoids that stretch and go’s down the A5 to Towcester.
The contraflows in Europe Germany and Spain for instance are a lot tighter and your backside really does grip the seat, either way i dont like them much
when you run through roadworks, there is evidence that some truck, car and van drivers have absolutely no idea how wide their vehicle is.

Coz if i do 50…i’ll end up at the side of somebody who is also doing 50…for the whole stretch of roadworks.
If i do 45 you can go straight past…
