If you had the chance

Well i’m 100% with Quinny. EC14, Eaton twin split, olympic cab, twin eminox. Sweet. OH! and curtains pulled across the windows!!! :sunglasses:

nee naw nee naw, the curtain police are on the way to norfolk

Good on yer Charlie one, if everybody else on this thread can dream, why can’t we.
I would also love to own, restore and run a Sentinel or a Foden Steam Lorry.
We could take it to all the LORRY SHOWS and charge people for having a ride in the back ( extra for in the front ).
We wouldn’t have to spend a penny on diesel or curtains.
At the end of the day, our profit margin could be as compatible as some of the owner drivers are making after paying out for diesel, spotlights, sound systems, bells, whistles, exhaust systems and gearboxes I have never heard of , chrome kangaroo bars, curtains from Harrods. :unamused:

Sorry Charlie one, I was getting a bit carried away there, perhaps we just
need one of those red paraffin lamps that we used to see next to the old road works, we could illuminate you smilies so people can see them.

G’day Mushroomman. Many thanks for your posting. After being told that I was a lunatic for daring to mention Sentinel I got a bit discouraged but now I’m going for it. Just waiting for the lottery to come up and off we go. I reckon we could make a good living running one. Not having to pay £1.17 a litre for derv. How much a ton for good steam coal? You can go a long way on a ton. I’ll give it some thought and come back to you on it. Regards Charlie.

F700 Mack for me please, would love to restore one. and work it.

6x4 transconti , my favourite truck of all times

It would have to be the DAF 2600 for me.

I.M.H.O. the best owner drivers motor was the Volvo F88, which I always liked in a dark green livery, like Hungarocamion.

I must admit that my old Scania 112, which was blue/ gunmetal could of looked better in the Swedish colours of blue and yellow.

But, one of the smartest British lorries that I ever saw abroad , belonged to Eric Vick of Gloucester. In a row of about fifteen lorries parked up at Weiskirchen services near Frankfurt, an E.R.F. sleeper with its maroon cab and white roof received a lot of attention from other drivers.

B.T.W. Charlie one, I can’t wait for you to win the lottery, I do hope it’s soon.
As regards the Sentinel and keeping the fuel costs down, Pompey is not far from the New Forest isn’t it.

I have a cunning plan. :bulb:

I’ve got a chainsaw. I can see what direction your heading Mushrooman West. Its a brilliant thought. I’m going ahead with the plans. Now how to lay my hands on some cash.Any ideas?

i’d get me one of these with a 14 litre ■■■■■■■ twin splitter etc etc

take the engine to ■■■■■■■ along with a big bag of money to get it upped
get the gearbox refurbed shot blast the chassis and respray twin stacks

globetrotter the cab and throw in a few lights and an air con unit on the roof and that will do me thanks :sunglasses:

ps cheers to kw for the pic :sunglasses:

I have been showing a Volvo F10 GLobetrotter for a few years now. If you click on my profile it will take to the website.

chris thats one nice volvo you got there mate

What a stunning machine. Well done Chris.

Well I have read and digested all the dreams and horrors and come up with my own favorite DAF 3600.

The handbag twirlers with the Sentinel would find it very different to try to work one wouldnt they? You cant bring that in here mate. Its a fire risk.

What do you mean you cant move it for 3 hours? Shift it or I will clamp you :stuck_out_tongue:

But even with my beloved 3600 ATi actually driving one nowadays would be scary,

Think about the brakes, lack of power and the air leaks. 360 horses at 38 tonne were ok, now it would be like driving a Ford D series

Summat like this!

Never driven one! but its the one that always impressed me the most on the roads as a lad!

Alex

I agree with your choice Wheel Nut. Always did like the the 3600 only having driven the 2600. This is why I have an overdeveloped left arm having to pump the gears continuously. No I’m right handed so forget it. One thing that puzzles me is what is a handbag twirler? Youve beaten me there.Tell me.

Great picture Scarab of the D.A.F. 3300, now that I really would love to own and drive.

By the way Wheel Nut, its the first time I have heard of Handbag Twister, is it anything like Cornish Welly Throwing or is it just a Derbyshire custom that you do at weekends

Regards A Sentimental Sentinel Admirer.

Handbag Twirler. :stuck_out_tongue: It was just that I noticed Charlie W and K9 seemed to be having a lickle disagreement
