If you couldn't drive tommorrow, what would you do?

Id go back to driving plant on site, easier, not as much stress and probably more money!
Some day id love my own little shop, the wifes in middle of starting a party hire shop but theres no way im spending 24hrs a day with her!!! Little paper shop on an industrial estate would suit me.

A deck chair attendant at the seaside.
Probaly do my 360 and loading shovel ticket

Become a DCPC TRAINER! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: and fail the lot of you! :open_mouth: :unamused: :grimacing: dessy, you can have yours free pal, IT’S NOT A TAX! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I have been looking for something else for the last 6 months but there is nothing out there.I live near the coast between hull and bridlington so limited where i can travel,i now average 4 days a week with agencies and can live on that but most jobs are part time paying £6 20 per hour.I can drive diggers but there’s not much of that about.
I have had a couple of interviews but think when companies see you are a truck driver they don’t want to no

Go back into the building game, roofing is a good source of income, also stonework is a good earner…

Probably go back to IT!

All i knew was driving, had been driving for 25 years until one bad day 3.5 years ago when i got hit by a car and that has put me in a wheelchair . I have to say i do miss the job i did get the chance to go in the office which i did for a while but i wasnt me. I dont no what lies ahead but just glad to be alive and here.

If permanantly,

Work in a call centre as customer service representative.

Otherwise i’d get a sick note :smiling_imp:

sorry, i didn’t realise that you was Asian

It happened to me, had an epeleptic seizure and had to had my licence in, lost my job overnight, had to go over a year with loads of tests to actually find out what was up with me, still don’t know to this day.

Could have quite easily sat on my ar*e and claimed income support but in the end I got bored and decided to get a job, got an interview with a call centre, went on to get offered the job and then started selling gas and electric…been there nearly 2 years now.

By the way im white

As last time got caught by plod doing 143 mph on my bike at 4 am on M65 sunday morning so 12 months for dangerous even though no bugger else on the motorway.

Pack my tools in the back of the car kiss the wife and kids good bye and bugger off to Germany to work for the US army for a while.

Come back take extended test, kiss some ■■■ to get hgv back, then same crap but different day.Should have stayed in Bamburg at least the old Germans are not trying to screw you every minute of the day unlike our wonderful police and Vosa (to serve and protect) in dear old blighty.

Before that same sort of thing (bikes are my downfall dam them) but take test in Irish republic(cant be done now due to law change) then a bit of driving sur le continent.

Cos you lose your UK licence it aint the end of the world, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Nil illegitimie carborundum sub (dont let the ■■■■■■■■ grind you down)

I think I would start spending the £millions I have made this last 35 years as an OD,gotta spend it some time there are no pockets in a shroud.

Yeah, so you’ve noticed that too? Thought it was just me lol. It’s almost like a bloody curse…if I could turn the clock back I would never have bothered with my HGV. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my life, and now I’m stuck with it 'cos I don’t know how to do owt else.

Be a stobart spotter   :unamused:

im in same position im unemployed have been for a yr since losing hgv 1 licence from sleep apnea, i get the impression that employers think greasy fat lorry driver and automatically put cv in the bin , apart from that what job can you do when all you know is lrry driving , and age is against you ? if i dont find a job soon i will be homeless its that bad !!

Yep, spot on. After my search for perm driving work completely reached a dead-end and wasn’t even worth pursuing any longer, I’ve now spent months of trying to find any non-driving full time work. I’m almost 100% convinced now that they really do exactly what you’ve said. As a matter of fact the only interview I managed to get was to a place where I sent the application omitting my previous history as a lorry driver!

So I’m in the same boat as you now and I know how you feel. Hope you find something soon mate. It’s really not a nice place to be, and most people won’t understand unless they’ve been in that position themselves. Especially most moany drivers who just seem to whine about absolutely anything they can, even when they’ve got a fairly decent lot - not knowing how much worse it could really be…

yep its the stereotypical image they have in there head , and most bosses are car drivers , so have a downer on truckers already, but to be honest i kinda understand why when you see the state of the majority of truckers ie unshaven scruffy fat and barely able 2 string a sentance together ! its no wonder why its virtually impossible 2 find a decent job ,

What would I do is completely different from what could I do.

But I would do something.

Er like what give us sum ideas , its no good if you keep applying 4 work but dont get an interview ? you cant force an employer to give you a job ■■? :frowning:

Stan

I often don’t drive tomorrow, not always but often…and aren’t tomorrow or the next day or next!

Depends if the rates are right and what else is available…

I love self employment…

Sometimes easies said then done finding another job

I know been trying for too long now but not a lot out there

Never said I would be looking for work - and certainly not employed work. :unamused:
