If you couldn't drive tommorrow, what would you do?

Go back to programming simulation software for me…on the edge of throwing it in and going back to it in any case tbh. :unamused:

If I were you I would mate. I wish I knew how to program… :frowning:

I’d be a plumber or an electrician ( not at the same time thats dangerous ) failing that i’d be a joiner …

Id become a pimp, sorry its called a agencey now

I’d have to learn an EE language and go back on the sites as a chippy!! :unamused:

Don’t bother you’ll be waisting your time/money for agood few yrs yet.

i’d be screwed i think.
its all i know, been doing it for 20 years, i’m 42 now, so way past it to get into another industry.
i wouldn’t make a painter, builder or the like, i couldn’t even build a lego house.
there is an old empty garage down the road, i’d probably open a 2 quid car wash in there.

It happenend to me in 2005, lost my vocational license on medical grounds.
However was prepared and had already looked around the corner and broadend my horizon.
It’s important that you prepare for any eventuality, be ready for the next step and have a plan for the rest of your life.
Dont play it by the day, big chance you will burn your fingers.
But thats only my opinion

try found girlfriend

been thinking about what i would do if the day ever came, and to be honest i one thing i always wanted to do was open a snack van, the reason is i believe i can do better than most out there because most are totally crap, and i really enjoy cooking and making things tasty :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Other way around for me, been in the plumbing industry for 33 yrs…now driving class 2…whatever happened I would never go back to plumbing, even driving for an agency is more reliable these days.

tbh, it would be a hell of a lot easier if i lost my vocational license right now, currently registered with 2 agencies around leeds, had no work last week and at the mo no phone calls in the pipe line for work this week, if i lost license at least i be able to get funding to train to do something else

Similar to me, packed up Scaffolding 10 years ago & vowed never to go back, but fed up with this no work - life balance job. Got an interview for a job delivering gas products later this month, if that doesn’t come off or turns into a silly hours job, I’m renewing my cscs card & dusting off my spanners next year, harder graft but better hours.

I’d become a male ■■■■■■ and stripper.
getting paid to lick an old womens ■■■■■■ has got to be better than tipping at morrisons.

Chas:
Imagine if your medical situation worsened beyond your control this very weekend, you want to work but they stop you doing the job you choose.

What would you do?

Having probably been one of the few in this thread who has actually ended up in this position…

I set up my own business refurbishing and repairing laptops.

Trouble is a lot of truck drivers have only ever done driving and for those in that position, they’re screwed. I’m fortunate enough to have a few completely different strings to my bow, all with experience, which I can turn to depending on what I’m capable of doing.

Get my old Mk2 jag back out of the garage and go back to the old proffesion in helping banks lending there money to me with out the evil paper work to fill in :grimacing:

I’d do what im doing now im a GOOD salesman , I have a very good knowledge of the building industry and the tools used within it, Im currently a tool hire supervisor and doing rather well at it,Im also quite good with health and safety and its a career I would love to be involved in more my current job has 190 risk assesments !!!

However when I open up at work and I get guys that have been outside all night on a night out unlike others at work I am pretty sympathetic to them and show them where the kettle and the bog is !!

Register for the jeremy kile show… Then do lots of naughty things to justify my registration. Then hopefully get lots of benefits and buy a good tracksuit■■?

Really, would prob try and learn something new, like something I’d have to study…
I’d sweep the streets if I had to earn money to survive and pay my way.
