If the authorities put 40 foot high pictures of it at Calais saying something like “come to Britain. I will personally make you welcome” then I reckon that the immigrant problem would vanish overnight.

HaHa i think your right.I’m struggling to think of a better advertisement that would put the freeloading ■■■■■■■■ off

It’s funny you should say that.I reckon he looks like he would like abit of sausage himself…

They got enough “social dumping” and they came up with this solution, to ban 45h rest in the cab.
Why? This is why:
It’s happening right now:

So what would happen if a driver had 44 hours and 59 minutes in the cab?(…)

This won’t help you at all. The first brake can be less than 45h, but the second must be at least 45h. So if you do 24h, or 44h59m you still need to have a 45h after. Can not work for 15 days not to make one 45h brake.

I was being sarcastic - or thought I was. I was playing on a technicality.

My point being what offence has been committed by having 44 hours 59 minutes of weekly rest when a full regular weekly rest is due?

I know how this would be treated in the UK - nothing would come of it - but in France/Germany etc ■■?

It’s a pointless question really as I am sure we all know what the German etc authorities are after achieving by enforcing this rule that I am sure was never meant to be as it is anyway.

seeing as how the flipflops all pal up and park together why don’t they just swap cabs for the weekend…problemo solvedo.

Not really the regulations only state that a Daily or Reduced Rest can be taken in a vehicle, so for the situation we’re talking about,
I assume that has been interpreted as you can’t take a full weekly rest in a vehicle, that is any vehicle.

pish…that would also mean that you couldn’t have your weekly rest in a meet the fokkers type rv or anything similar.
once again, itl be some pedantic beancounter plod that will take someone to court for a test case, but the la as its written is a loophole with a bit of paper surrounding it.

I suppose when they wrote the law, (that’s if they actually meant it, see next paragraph) they didn’t really envisage transport bosses supplying large American motorhomes for their drivers to have a full weekly rest.

The way the legislation is worded is strange (seems more of an over sight than actually part of the legislation) and it has been ignored by most authorities until now. They’ve used an interpretation of the law to deal with a problem of “Social Dumping” and as somebody said it will affect very few British drivers and the 2 times last year when I had a full weekend rest away from home I was in a hotel paid for by my company.

Thought you’d been posting a lot of stuff recently.

the sooner the better in my eyes …u only have to look at the borders the services areas the industrial estates in europe …even in the uk …the amount ov eastern block hauliers …doing and pulling other countries trailers …why should a ro bg Lt lv est ect …the sooner cabotage is brought back in that u have to load to place of origin the better …u shouldn’t be aloud to decimate other countries work. …happy new year everyone 1…Wawaw

If I had my way sleeper cabs would only be allowed in emergency and only one night per week. All other time to be spent in a min 4 star hotel, this would make sure the driver could carry out his task after full rest

nothing wrong with swapping cabs wae the driver parked next to you then?? then you both would be ok. :unamused: :unamused:
