Right, you can change one thing about the transport industry or even your job, what would you change ■■ ( apart from your wages as we would all like to change that )

Maybe cars drivers merging correctly, your planner, tacho rules, speed limiters, etc

Lorry drivers poor standard of driving.

Uniform speedlimits for Pcv and lgv including 7.5t and minibuses

Personally… a better truck! A scania R420 sleeper cab for a 6ft3 driver is not large enough - especially for a weeks tramping.

Get rid of speed limiters, cars and other trucks cut you up because they know you can’t catch them to ‘discuss’ the issue.
Very rarely got cut up pre limiter days as most were savvy enough not to mess about with trucks for fear of 32tonnes of truck chasing after them :grimacing:

The hours. I’d make it a max 40 hour week. :wink:

simplify the tacho rules…
max 12 hr shift start to finish…
1 full hour break after 4½ hrs any work inc driving. (none of this 15 minutes, then 30 minutes)
minimum 10 hrs daily rest.
minimum 36 hours weekly rest.(every week) (no more trying to work out compensation hours)

Driver negativity. There seems to be very few ‘happy & helpful’ drivers. I am sure if drivers were happier there would be more camaraderie with people willing to help each other…hang on, that sounds like the old days!!

or, better facilities for drivers/more parking. along the lines of the french motorway rest areas.

if there is a job available, then a british driver should take the job before a foreign one.
sentence for failing to follow this rule. death by public hanging.

all loads to be carried on flatbeds, including hanging meat.
women lorry drivers must be fit. (the same rule as sweden).
all lorry drivers must pass an IQ test, none of this dcpc crap.
all drivers with 3 years experience will be entitled to an o’licence for one vehicle at no charge.
and that’s experience, not just holding a licence for 3 years.
all diesel fuel to be the same price throughout europe.
