Driving along the hard shoulder is careless reckless and dangerous.

Best close all these smart motorways then

Assuming that means the law have got the vid I’m guessing that our intrepid camera hero will find out the definition of the law of unintended consequences. :open_mouth:

robroy:
buries himself in back of trailer,.and a quick death results.

I’m sure that’s what the law will be thinking when they see the filming of the number plate rather than the effort he went to in providing them with it. In addition to the question why didn’t he move to lane 3 at or before the start of the vid in view of the circumstances.

All I can say is, Get you some of that, should have used lane 3, Whooosh…

We should pass a law that bans the posting of footage below 720p.

It is the miopic resulutions that people routinely post - that gives “proof” a bad name.

Correct answer mate, grab a cold one from the cooler

Pricks like this pair is why we have cameras in cabs.

On the subject of cameras I’m assuming that the hard shoulder offender has a front facing camera, so shouldn’t be too hard to check the time of the incident, get the number plate of the truck in lane 2 next to the DPD truck and slam him for using a phone whilst driving and dangerous driving for no hands on the wheel.

One less idiot on the road, no doubt the hard shoulder driver will just get a fine, the camera man is in for a lot worse I’d say

Their driving careers for any decent firm must be dead…

So if they are hung or beheaded, does it matter?

I would imagine that the firm will confront driver with the camera evidence of them driving on the hard shoulder, and either ask them to resign if full time, or ban them from site if agency.
What they won’t do however is straight-forwardly supply footage to any inquiry from plod to release said footage - so the haulier themselves can foot the big fine that they’d be putting their hands up to here…?

I think I’ve said it before on here, but “Cab Camera Footage” - be it forward or driver facing - isn’t for plod, isn’t for the driver’s protection, and isn’t to satisfy legal requirements. It is so the FIRM knows who’s doing what, and who they can apply pressure to, not necessarily for breaking any laws.

I’ve never heard of driver-facing cameras being used to get rid of firm’s favourites that light up in the cabs right in front of the cameras and “it is against the law to smoke in this vehicle” signs…

It has been quite a while since damning driver facing camera evidence ^^^^ was used against a driver directly to convict them of an offence - but don’t be fooled into thinking that such footage is ROUTINELY used to bring about legal system convictions, rather than “loose let-go” tool that such carefully guareded footage provides to employers at a time when a growing number of those same employers are wondering how they can shed staff without having to pay out massive amounts of redundancy… :bulb: :bulb:

The vid was originally uploaded via whatever media think it says facebook ? and can be traced back to whoever uploaded it from there.I’ll add driving in a way likely to cause an avoidable collision both by failing to move to lane 3 and not backing off and the silly tail gating move at the end.
The hard shoulder move was similar but was directly caused by the actions of our hero with the camera.

Blowout:
yes I agree , recording while driving and zooming in must of required no hands on the steering wheel . My guess is there was something before this happened that they dont want you to see as why would you illegally record a simple overtake

Videoing on a motorway with no hands on the wheel whilst passing a lorry? Instant 6 points for the phone and whatever else they decide to do about the dangerous driving. Not just a fine for that call sign

What are you waffling about?

So you think police won’t be aware of this video? Do they not use Facebook? If the police ring up and ask for the footage you think the firm won’t turn it over?

the correct way to do this manoeuvre is for both overtaking trucks to slow down at cab level to watch whatever ■■■■ the dpd driver is looking at on his own screen.

irrespective on any mutual wrist slapping by companies or plod, then apart from their own present jobs, itl make not 1 iota of difference to any of the two drivers involved.

whos to say its not two mates having a bit of craic, then next thing the videos viral as if its a big deal?

obviously if its a pricydickyrowleytrampyjake type dashcam warrior road commander taking the video then the important issue is the 5 mins prior to the camera coming on as thats where the real fun will be.

The nicking priority will probably go along the lines of the tailgating move to get the all important number plate shot, the hard shoulder overtake, use of the phone while driving and the question why didn’t the camera hero move to lane 3 at the start of the vid to avoid a foreseeable collision situation.

…Maybe DPD driver likes to watch “Truck Crash ■■■■”, and found himself in the middle of a live feed “Watch This Undertake” style Live Feed thingy… :stuck_out_tongue:

…Here’s another one in my neck of the woods, where camera truck seems to be an even bigger turd than DPD driver as well… :unamused: :unamused:

Ed: Sorry I forgot - “This footage was not taken by me”… :stuck_out_tongue:
