This has been discussed numerous times before, if someone calls something in, say for instance debris between 40 and 39 southbound on the M6, its 11 miles between those 2 junctions. If they don’t give an accurate position using the large blue marker boards, we have to set signals between both junctions, they can only be cancelled once ourselves or the police have driven between the junctions and cleared it. You could be passing under a matrix saying incident slow down, whilst we’re 2 miles in front of you clearing it. We then cancel the signs and resume patrol, meanwhile, you’re still tootling along looking for an incident which has been cleared. Just look out for “End” signs. (that’s if they’re not faulty! )
