Idiot artic driver

Coming up the M1 northbound last Thursday afternoon, I looked in mirror it was clear for me to move into lane 2 to overtake so I did.
While I was overtaking I had a British Gypsum Mercedes Actros sitting so close I could not tell where I finished and he started, It was obvious that I was overtaking as I was halfway past but this was not good enough he started flashing his lights where could I go■■?

I have thought about dying but an impatient ■■■■■■ hole who can’t stop because he is too close is not the way I have in mind.

Once he got past me he then did the same thing to the vehicle in front of him again only this time sitting behind the truck really stretched his I.Q. and then he started weaving between lane 1 and lane 2.I can only assume that this is a secret way of getting an actros to go quicker.

This was the sort of driving that had the vehicle been on PL plates we would be calling for them all to be banned off our roads.

So if anybody knows the British Gypsum Mercedes Actros driver reg no AY 55 GHV last Thurs evening was trailer no BGM 73, please tell him that I hope he:
a) gets banned from driving asap for ours and his own safety.

b) gets violently and intimately assulted by several people at the same time and hope that he catches a nasty lifelong disease as a result of this attack.

After seeing this driver drive it’s no wonder our profile is as high as it is for the wrong reasons.

I’ve just put the link to your post on the British Gypsum company feedback form

Thank’s Rog.

I have just got their phone number will be ringing them in morning but no doubt will get the our drivers are proffesionals etc.etc.

ROG:

Doubt that will do much good, as I’m afraid that is a DHL vehicle.

We supply a large part of the transport for British Gypsum. Part of the deal is we have to have so many vehicles in their livery.

I think that truck is based at either Barrow on Soar or East Leake.

I’m not entirely comfortable with the apparent naming and shaming that goes on, but I might have an answer for one of your questions Ben9 . . . . .

(Oh - and the naming and shaming has given me an idea of how I, and possibly Agency drivers could really have some “fun” )

Quite clearly, the guy in the Actros wanted you to move out of his way. I would think that his flashing meant that you weren’t moving out of his way quickly enough.

What perhaps you should have done was to abort your overtake manoeuvre.

Were you ever taught/introduced to the theory of “vehicle sympathy” ?

I don’t think you said what marque you were driving, or how effective the exhauster is.

If he really wanted you to abort, then perhaps you should have.

Indicate left. Take your foot off the gas. Engage vehicle exhauster/Engine Brake. Maybe even drop half a cog to increase the engine revs, giving the exhauster more pull (or is it push) and allow the vehicle to slow. Rather than stressing the brakes and/or reducing the thickness of your linings. (Well, pads these days)

When you’ve slowed enough to allow you to pull back into lane one, with of course a suitable safety gap/braking zone and an acceptable view ahead; then ease back in thereby allowing the guy in a rush to get on his merry way.

You must of course doff your cap, or at least tug your forelock as he looks across and thanks you. (At least. I think that’s the message his gesticulations are intended to portray )

I doubt it’ll be a BG driver,
it’s going to be a driver employed by the company who runs the transport at whichever plant the truck is based. eg Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire is run by DHL., although painted in BG colours, I’m not sure who does East Leake nowadays, or Kirby Thore, or Robertsbridge.

I would expect BG to point you in the right direction though.

Ok, so I don’t type as fast as FF

Sounds like they haven’t learned their lesson. One of their drivers was killed a few months ago on the M1, northbound at junction 20, when he ran up the arse of the truck in front while the police were putting a rolling roadblock in at about 3 o’clock in the morning.

Natural selection

dambuster:
Natural selection

Im also not sure about the naming and shaming cause after all how do we know you were’nt pulling off the worlds longest overtaking manouvre as lots of people do without any consideration for anyone else on the road.
You might have a grudge against the driver and you have made HIM look like the guilty party.
how do we know?
putting registration numbers on a public forum cause the said driver TO YOU has done something wrong does’nt mean that he has.YOU may of exaggerated the story in your favour leaving out the reasons YOU may have caused an annoyance.
Its your word against his and he is’nt here to defend his reputation.

seems a bit wrong to me

I had some nutter in an Artic try and run me of the road deliberately on the A34 last year, frightened the ■■■■■■■ life out of me to the point I phoned the police.(who did ■■■■ all about it) and pulled of the carriageway sharpish to pull back on again 10 minutes later and he was waiting for me further along the carriageway.

I had his Reg,but I did’nt post it on a public forum.as when it comes down to it its my word against his and he aint here to defend himself even though In my opinion he was completely ■■■■■■■ loony and should have been shot.

We have had 2 BG wagons in Jewson in the last few weeks one of them just about spoke English but the other didnt know a word of it are they running the stuff from abroad now ?.

:imp:

:imp:

Very much doubt it; plasterboard’s a cheap enough commodity to make it uneconomical to import the stuff.

All you’re seeing is the start of a legalized version of what Enoch Powell warned of forty years ago.

…and look what happened to him!

Personally, I’m looking forward to the day we have muslim law here too

Thats probably a DHL driver !!

In my opinion most of the drivers that DHL employ are tossers!

You dont normally get a assesment when you turn up there…

As long as your boots fit you , you can drive !!

Coffeeholic:

That particular driver was on the peat contract for DHL…

And not British gypsum… Get you facts right you no mark !!!

IFTrousers:

Maybe not, wherever you are.

But not on my patch matey.

If you don’t pass the written test, I won’t even let you get in the saddle.

If you do OK on the theory, but, perhaps jerk me about too much, or maybe get too near to whats in front - you’re soon down the road. But not in one of our vehicles.

Of this, I can assure you. :sunglasses:

Point taken…

But in my experiance … You only need to show up.

"heres your map . theres you keys . now ■■■■ off … oh by the way dont forget to fill out a defect sheet !! "

Sometimes at DHL they have give me a vehicle and it still has " the day mans" stuff in it…

Its not as if they do nights out or anything…

And whos to sat its “there bunk” If i am tired i will lie in or on it!

Sorry Ben9 - I’m rambling off-topic here.

Maps? You get maps? Must be a posh bit of the firm you’re at.

Er, most (though I know not all) of our sites do. I had five nights out last week, myself.

If I am driving someone else’s regular vehicle on a day / night run and the regular driver’s kit is still in it, I have enough respect for them to not touch it. I wouldn’t like it if it was the other way around. Furthermore, I wouldn’t really want to sleep on another driver’s bed, unless she was good looking.   Most of our lot don’t fit this description, though…

If someone has their bedding on their bunk - it’s their bunk. You (or me) are only using it for a shift, whereas they may have to live in the vehicle throughout the rest of the week. If you physically can’t go a shift without feeling tired then you shouldn’t be at work. Use your ‘daily rest period’ for having a rest. That’s what it’s for

You’re a bit choosy - aren’t ya ■■ :open_mouth:

Or . . . . . . . .

Are do you (like me) fimd that women seem to get more and more “attractive” in a similar way to when we drink beer ?

Are you indeed, familiar with the comparable phenomenon of the “Thursday Girl” - similar to the 7 Pinter ?

(I’m gonna get slaughtered by the Right On Brigade, aren’t I ? )

I know it well!!
