Ive driven volvos with i shift since they came out, last week i was talking to a fitter and found out 2 things i didnt know about the i shift, there is 3 reverse gears so if you are reversing along way instead of revving its knackers off you can knock the rocker switch up a gear,he also told me its best to pull away in manual when your lorry has a load on its back, thats so the load sensor in the gearbox can get its head round how much weight its pulling, after the first set off you can keep it in auto because its set its self to the weight its got on ,these tips will save you at least a thimble full of diesel a day, every little helps
Don’t have an i shift mate
When you first set off with a load they allways rev high and go above the green band,i thought there was summat up with mine thats why i mentioned it to the volvo fella, its because the sensor is getting used to the weight its pulling, after that its sound, ive started pull away in manual its loads better when its heavy, bit boring really

it goes into reverse low when you put it in reverse, i quite often press the button on the side and stick it into reverse high, but that’s only 2 reverse gears, where is the 3rd one??
For loading or unloading, if you grab the suspension control and press the left button so the orange light comes on, (either with engine running or just with ignition on) you can then turn ignition off, lock cab up and the suspension level will stay at ride height rather than lifting the air bags up to maximum when tipping, or if loading it will stop your mudguards sitting on top of your tyres.

If its the same as the Renault, R3 can only be selected when stationery. Not advisable though. It goes like ■■■■ off a shovel and the ratio is quite high, meaning it slips the clutch a bit too much.

Its not a tip seth, but in case you havent looked, at the end of the bed (passenger side end) in the little hidey hole cubby there is a 24volt socket. Handy for me as my motor not got a fridge built in, so thats where my socket plugs in. Handy!

I had a 58 plate with a safe and the new on as one,extras,nearside at the bottom of the bed;
Mine is DHL poverty spec mate, im lucky to have electric windows!
Got to be stationary to engage 3rd reverse. Will do 30mph in 3rd! Handy for a long reverse in unit but a bit too rapid with a trailer. As for pulling away I’ve never had to put it in manual, it always seems to pick the right gear.

Should bloody hope so with 750bhp
If your truck has a PTO, when in neutral, engage PTO, then press the ‘gear up’ button and it changes to N2 = faster PTO
That box is way over rated me thinks:)

How so? Which other automatic transmission is easier & better to drive?

windows ■■ you’re lucky…
when I was a lad, I was lucky to have doors.
eeeeh, you young 'uns are spoilt rotten.
My experience is that I-shift likes to pick to high starting gear. Yes the truck will get moving but with a slipping clutch. Seen alot of I-shift trucks that has needed a new clutch after just 200 000 miles
Better to click it down one or two steps manually.

They’re all the same to me, put it in drive & go, motor will sort itself out:grin:
