I have a new job

Good luck with the new job matey, I’m at Wakefield and like the job, been doing it 6 months. It’s a bit repetitive but you can plan your life better. After all work is just a means to an end isn’t it?

Milk Man:
Nice one BB I tried to get in there at the beginning of the year but no luck, did you have to take that personality test online?

Yes I believe that’s the only way in.

Contraflow:

Pimpdaddy:
More than you’ll ever get a sniff at, carrot picker.

You’ll never get a sniff at a proper wage, either, Contraflow. You stupid man! You’re a dirty, fat, deluded, HGV driver, aren’t you?

Maybe, Pimpdaddy does pick carrots for a living, but I highly doubt that his remuneration is less than what yours is.

You can’t get any lower in society, than being an HGV driver, surely?

This is what gets me about truck drivers, you can hardly get any sense out of them but they’re quick to slate. If the job is that great & it pays more than mine then give us some actual figures!

Enjoy, it’s one of the most laid back jobs going.

Been with a supermarket for two years now, couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I don’t understand how anyone could possibly enjoy being a lorry driver! You’re thought of, in the General public’s mind; exactly the same same way, as a turd, in a swimming pool is.

Aren’t you ashamed of yourself, andi_cardiff?

At least if I’m a Turd in a swimming pool, they keep clear of me. [emoji90][emoji6]

How do they, do you drive a truck on Pluto?

No, you hold everyone up, whilst there on their way to work, or wherever else.

I started this thread so if you ain’t got anything interesting or intelligent to say ■■■■ off.

Yet you take the time out your life to join a lorry forum. Speaks volumes really, you need your hole mate, you’ll see a whole new side to life

Your working with “Taliban” in a veg picker moving across a field in Dec.
I used to do that with my mates 35yrs+ ago (when I was a mad 15yr old) and doubt the wages/working conditions have improved much since then!!![emoji12]

Juddian:
Congratulations on the new job.

Thanks.

busteredwards:
51yrs old & I’v done the other stuff, this will be my last job

I’m 50 and hopefully this will be my last job too.

I was thinking the same myself with mine too… Congrats anyways.
Proof there’s now jobs to be had out there again though… It’s nice to see the labour market becoming more liquid enough so we seniors (Sorry, “Boys” being under 53!) can flip sideways from job to job when we feel like it.

Left RM in 2010, Worked at Langdons summer 2011, Tescos from November 2011, then a cycle of Yodel, Brakes, Fedex, C&H (later Downton), Firmins, and a couple of one-offs with firms like Victoria Carpets & Swains… Of those, I’ve decided to stick around at Brakes. I reckons age 70 is about right to hang my keys up, assuming I stay alive long enough to retire at this age. Keeping a licence becomes just a tad too complicated each year after that, in my mind.

SANCHEZ:

Actually, there is one step lower.

You could be that person who really wanted to be a HGV driver but kept failing the test so now spends their days being a substandard troll on a HGV drivers’ forum instead.

That’s rock bottom.

They are practically giving away hgv licences these days, looks like too many old boys making out the job to be something it ain’t[emoji49][emoji49][emoji49]

andi_cardiff:
couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

You couldn’t imagine having guaranteed weekends off??

Pimpdaddy:

I know, that makes it even more tragic.

18yrs old & it can be automatic, really…??lol
