He was tipping in London, and spoke English very well and had worked all over Europe, he told me a driver got caught and fined over there for using a magnet, he was fined 4000 euro, and his firm 10,000 euro, the Police went to see him again and could not locate him , they opened his fridge trailer doors, he had hung himself in the back.
He also said that the German BAG have a device to detect a magnet when they are only driving past a truck, and he told me drivers wrap their digi cards in aluminium foil to fool them when driving on a dig in slot 2 when it should be in slot 1.
What do you guys think of this, and why would he make all that up?
perhaps he thought your were gullible and he decided to fill you with ■■■■ it worked
Why would you put the driver card in shot 2 and wrap it in foil or whatever cant see how this is going to cover up what your doing? Even if you use a magnet the tacho still records engine rpm despite the mode you’ve set the VU to.
He seemed very convincing and i have an honest face, or was i a “mug”, not the tea kind.
It’s not just rdc waiting area’s where that gets spouted. Pure 100% BS.
Suicidal driver that broke the camels back maybe?
A made up story, but by whom
Last year one driver from Latvia hung himself on a branch next to his lorry in Kazahstan i think it was. He had started drinking while on his 24h break, and eventually ran out of money, so started selling the load, once he was sober, he understood what he had done and commited a suicide.
It’s hard enough to open and close fridge doors from the outside never mind from the inside.

Quality
Rather surprisingly, the word “gullible” does not appear in any dictionary.
Do you know that gullible isn’t actually in the English dictionary!

Ae ya dirty bastart, harry is cutting my grass again think this shows i dont really read threads properly
for the benefit of Yuppie… a 4000 grand penalty in Europe is not unusual indeed it is well known that the French can and do impose heavy penalties for any breach of the regulations an example is opening
and closing the tacho, analogue type,to check your hours, this carried a penalty of 90 euros times the number of times you had done it in your 28 cards. Now this might have been 10,20 or even 30 times if you were old like me,forgetful so 90 x 30 equals 2700 euros, just for checking your time and you pay up before you move,as for the magnet well you might have to sell lorry to pay fine it is thousands, course you can go to court in
France and fight it since their penalty is actually a form of deposit on an eventual outcome.
It was better in the old days when you just asked the copper if he wanted a “coffee”.
Some still do it Harry I can assure you and I doubt it will surprise you to find out that the introduction of the ‘Fixed Penalty System’ here did inspire some to boost their salary, have always considered the
FPS nothing more than the great salary enhancer.Question■■? if YOU worked for any of the enforcement agancies would you take a bung■■?
Yes, I know, British traffic police have always taken backhanders from foreign truck drivers. I posted this to another thread a short while back…
Harry Monk:
I was on the ferry once with some Brits and a few Dutchmen. We were talking about law enforcementI said “In England, the Police and VOSA are totally on the level, they don’t take bribes”.
Simultaneously, all of the Dutchmen fell about laughing. When they had stopped, one of them winked at me and said “Hey, do you really think so?”
And the major complaint is that while those corrupt Euro officials are usually happy with 20-30 euros their British counterparts are looking for between 50-100 well I suppose they have years to catch up on and
who can blame them, they have watched their political leaders raking it in so have just jumped on a bandwagon.
