Its a little magnet that sticks on the side of the gearbox ( wont tell you where ) that allows a driver to drive while his tacho shows rest.
I know that a lot of east European companies, tell their drivers that they are responsible for any fines they get, so a 4000 euro fine he cannot pay, plus losing his job, plus costing the boss 10.000 euros, to get his truck back, would lead to anyone unstable enough, to commit suicide. I dont believe that the Rumo would have any need to tell such a porkie, lets face it, there have been bigger stories on here, also told by a lot of unstable people.
I Remember about 7/8 years ago at arrachnerland (sp) services in Germany.
woke up and opened the curtains to see about 4 police cars and a bag van snooping around a iirc Romanian truck i think it was a straight box rather than a frigo and after taking a sss asked the driver next to me and he stated that the driver of said truck was found hanging in his trailer after the police on patrol stopped to investigate the rear door being open slightly.
Made the rest of my day a bit quieter i can tell you.
sad times when it gets to that stage. miles from home. one can only wonder what made him/her do it ?

I think it’s summat to do with double glazing & fitted kitchens. 
When i had my own truck i would carry a bag of broken glass to throw on the floor of the cab when i got a tug, they would try to fine me for something, and i would say i had a break in and all the truck papers and money has been stolen so can not pay you.
They would ask for a police receipt of what had happened, i would just wait untill they get fed up and let me go.
The pretence was that my cab window had been broken in to.

How considerate of him.
Most folks who top themselves show a blatant disregard for those who have to clean the mess up. Hats off to this bloke who ensured his own corpse was kept refrigerated and fresh.
No doubt someone will be along in a minute to moan about the fact his fridge was left running all night though.

Last year one driver from Latvia hung himself on a branch next to his lorry in Kazahstan i think it was. He had started drinking while on his 24h break, and eventually ran out of money, so started selling the load, once he was sober, he understood what he had done and commited a suicide.
all depend from drivers.if we talk about suicide.basicly in eastern European family wife make good control about money.but to many drivers when go to to work for 3-6 week,in weekend start drink ,and drink to many.,some people drink or spend for casino or prostitution not just own money,but as well company money.after when balance ready in minus,this drivers start think what i was do ,what do next.yes not all drivers do this but some drivers just drive,drive drive sleep,come weekend drink ,drink drink.and again drive.last month i was holiday In latvia.i go to one transport company(they work France -England).ask about job condition ,managers ask about me ,expirience,and after managers said to me if i decide start work with this company,he agree gime me job.i said i can back after 2-3 month,because i rent house here,i self employmers.finish house contract taked time,must wait till april ,paid all tax.this boss said ok i can come any time.after i call to my friend (he work in this company) ask about everythink and ask boss said -i can come any time,but what he don t have drivers ,truck will be waiting me 3 month.my frind said yes all the time requared drivers.because some driver don t liked this job,but to many drivers not responsible,and boss sack him when they back.
all depend from drivers.if drivers put magnet -it is not biggest problem,just must understand when it is possible,when not
and another friend said -he work for drivers to many years-for own intereses he all the time try save and keep some extra money(1-2 thousand Eiro) just for one reason if some think happened -no problem pay penalty.drivers can drive 1-2 years or more with out penalty,but some day can get penalty for couple thousand Eiro.
