I try never to spend my money with any retailer/organization that I consider to treat truck drivers badly.
I used to do general haulage (not for the past 8 years though) and I ALWAYS found Tesco to be the worst retailer to deliver to (and judgeing by posts on here things haven’t changed) . Spent many hours sat at Middlewich and Magor waiting and waiting and waiting with no facilities. Didn’t mind waiting if they were busy but even when quiet they kept you waiting.
I’ve posted on another topic of wating 10.5 at Tesco in Northampton and as a result of it cocking my hours up I didn’t get home for a week (I was only supposed to be on days that week).
Once had a 7am tip at Middlewich then back later in the day with a second load for 2pm. Needless to say I left at 1pm from the 7am tip, ran back to the yard for the next load which they thern refused as I turned up at 3.30pm !!!
So for the last 8 years I’ve never spent any money in
Tesco (neither has my wife, mum, sister, mum in law etc). One exception is the Tesco at Ipswich off the A14 as they provide free overnight parking.
I’ve also recently deceided to boycot McDonalds as I used to use there restaurant on the A64 at York very regularly. It has recently undergone renovation and as a result the 8-10 HGV parking bays at the bottom of the car park have been erased and replaced with extra car parking spaces ! The road outside is all double yellows.
They are obviously trying to cater for the passing holiday traffic going to Scarborough, but God help them when winter arrives and the ever present truckers will no longer be there.
So, is there anywhere you don’t spend money as a result of being badly treated ?
I introduced a blanket Tossco ban in our house when that shower introduced the 6 hour day for agency staff amongst other things. Her indoors and anyone who knows me will tell you I’m fairly laid back. Wanna see me flip? Bring a pint of milk in from Tossco!

What a complicated life you live, dont take it too serious or personal. your here for a short time , not a long time.
Yeah, I know. The wife says I’m so laid back I should be horizontal !! but sometimes I just get wound up and take it so personally …, they don’t deserve my hard earned money. (so what 440 Mopar have you got ? I used to have the V8 Ram but now have a Chevy V8).

You know, last Week i went in Wasjingbay when back to park the Vehicle clean, and,i hit the Entrance with trailer corner.OK,is oposite the Entrance a open Scrap Metal container placed, even blocking a thirt of Walking way,but still,it made a bang you could hear, middn in silent Night quiet far.Shunter and Technician were quick at Scene, but nothing bad happened, and Entrance looks anywhy like a Entry to a battle Field.
But the next Day i was thinking,i never had that.I would have stopped early enough, and i think it is just, you dont be that Carefull anymore if your Pay and Hour gets cutted down.
Think its Time to move on and do anything else.Anything, maybe anything new, which gets my Mind back to Track. They have by sure enough Staff as that they couldnt do without me.
I only shop at Asda now! As they opened a new superstore near me,and virtually killed the local Tesco
Asda of all the RDCs I visit are in the main, more Truck Driver friendly than the rest!
The OP said they boycott McDonalds for making it almost impossible to park lorries there; I boycott them 'cos their food’s as crap as their customer service.
Had the blanket ban on Tossco in our house since mid nineties when got held up at Harlow for about 8hrs (I was on time too) was in from Spain with melons, had my other half with me & it was about 4hrs before they’d even let her use the loo & then she had to be escorted in & out of the building.
Never been in a McDonalds in my life & don’t see the need to change that!
I dont use our local Morrisons (aka ‘Manky Morrisons’), not that I’ve ever delivered there. It’s the rats running around the outside of the store that puts me off . Same with Burger King in Southampton, rats running around the back of the premises which backs onto the public toilets, though to be fair the toilets smell more healthy than Burger King.
I’ve boycotted Tesco for around 6 or 7 years now. Had a container into Middlewich which I couldn’t get the doors shut on after tipping. Dunno what had happened to the container but it was like it had gone out of shape slightly. Office didn’t give a [zb] when I asked for help but told me they’d call the police if I didn’t leave the site before my exit ticket expired. WTF. Went round to their on-site garage to ask for help - just really needed hammering home or a bar on the lever - but even though they were all stood around not doing owt they just said “not our problem” and wandered off leaving me to sort it out.
They’ve not a penny of my money since, and never will do either.
I don’t shop at Anne Summers anymore I ordered several items and it made the wife look nowt like that skinny bird in the catalogue More like a joint of beef the butcher just string tied

I make a point of not boycotting them due to free wifi and decent coffee. Parking is just a matter of creativity. A combination of hazards, beacons and “It broke down mate”
i shop wherever its convenient, or if the price and quality are right…i try and separate work from play, so if i get wound up at sainsburys…i chill out when i finish work, and carry on as normal. But hey i know how some companies can wind you up, especially Rob with his container…maybe you should have parked near the gate then told them you cant move till you get the doors closed…see how high they jump then.

Nice idea Bob, but then they phone up your company and a) tell them what you’ve done and now you are banned from site and then b) if you don’t move it NOW then your whole company will be banned. Not a good situation when you are ‘working’ for them via agy or s/e. Tesco food and products are ■■■■■ anyway so probably done me favour.

I actually did that at MAKRO edinburgh, the goods in monkey there is a right ■■■■■ used to do pallet deliveries and that was one of my regular drops. one morning i got there and was the only truck there, so I pulled on to the ramp thinking I was saving time for him and myself. The prick, because he thinks he is better than any driver that delivers there closed the shutter door and said to me we tell you when to go on the bay, we’re not unloading you.
Fine I said please yourself, locked the cab and went home. I live 5 minutes walk from the place. apparently it took 4 hours for replacement keys to arrive and another 7 trucks pulled in after me.
I won’t take ■■■■ off any goods in monkey or transport manager.
