I do love a RDC know it all

Apparently it is going to be against the law to use cruise control on anything other than motorways and if you have a accident on a A or B road and are found to have been using cruise control you’ll get a prison sentence  :open_mouth:
You have been warned!!!

That’s a cracker!

Yeah I think it is £10 for each full minute the cruise control was engaged

Yep section B 1 LL 5 H 1 T of the Driving to and from RDC’s act of 1823.

Will I still be OK to use a stick wedged between the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal?

Thought that was known as a ■■■■

Yes you will; the use of sticks is exempt from the new regulations. The only requirement is for the truck to be equipped with a steering wheel attendant, and that they have been properly trained on stick procedures. This will be a new module on the DCPC, and RDCs will be required by law to provide free DCPC training to any drivers who are detained for periods of at least 7 hours in addition to a hot meal, provided the Police have attended and marked the tyres with chalk and the driver isex Special Forces.

I remember at Hygena they removed all the fast idle pull knobs on the Scanias (bet not many remember those) because drivers were using them as a poor mans cruise control and there were a few accidents.

I seem to remember them being next to the engine stop…which was fun if you tried to use it as cruise control and pulled the wrong one.

Is cruise control still illegal in Belgium ?

good for the WIRE though :grimacing: was it not?

I rarely do RDC work but I quite fancy it for the entertainment value.

Thing is every RDC has at least one!

:open_mouth: …!!!.. :open_mouth: …gosh…another hooligan on trucknet.!!! whatever next.

How does anyone know if you’ve had cruise control on or not?

It won’t be on by the time you’ve stopped whatever way you did after all…

I believe it’s also “bustable” to have open food in the cab, twiddling with the radio, switching on an MP3 player, and winding down a window - because they are all distractions apparently.

It’s a shame Chief Justice Judge Sensible couldn’t just pass a law making it illegal to have actual communication devices and a 3 course meal in the cab… Would have made a lot more sense really eh? :unamused:

Place I’m currently at (a very big international company) they know exactly when the cruise control is used and we are trained to use it as much as possible on all types of road, in fact we lose (KPI) points if it’s only used on the motorways.

So is steering with your knees while making a brew and cruise control on not ok?
