I could be down the pub

start 3.00 a.m
run/tip leicester
back to yard,back 7 a.m
take truck for service
back for 8 a.m ish
sit in canteen until 10.30 a.m,you can now go home,
whats the point in keeping you there for 2 1/2 hrs if theres nothing doing, every friggin day,i could be down pub etc etc
i just dont see it,ive done my job,why not just say go home,
weve got to do 10 hrs in the office so were going to make you stay for 8 hrs or you wont get your 10m hrs
when it was corby/innovate i used to do 4/5/6 hrs and get 11 hrs pay, properly run companies who looked after there driver[done your job get off mate]

now now ady dont let them get to you, grin and bear it fella or they will send MO round to teach you the error of your ways!

I was thinking about calling myself an ambulance after the thump I made from falling off my chair as I could not actually believe what I just read!!! Sorry poster, but your example is exactly why we are in the situation we are today. Do you really expect to WORK for 6 hours but get PAID for 11…what universe have you just came from?.. I hope you also dont support claiming benefits when not deserved as that almost comes close to what you expect your employer to do. i.e. Pay you for something that you havnt earned.

A bit tongue in cheek
You should be grateful that the properly run company you now work for is not encouraging its drivers to rush the job to finish early.
Also if this company is giving a driver work that takes 4-5 hours and is paying for 10 , expect to be on the dole soon.

happens all the time where i am try to advoid going back the yard early pull in a layby a few miles back but thats get s boring too so usually end up back at the yard waiting in case something comes up which dont

Technology is eventually going to catch everyone out, some companies already have and use it. A simple tracking device shows the TM what and where the wagons are doing. So if you were sent out on a job and you have dropped and are heading back and the computer shows you as stopped just outside your yard then how do you explain that? Like I said technology will soon catch you up and bite you.

As much as I agree with a giving decent wage for a decent shift of work (Which is getting harder to come by), I really cannot agree with blatant stealing/fraud/lying/idleness and ultimitely causing some businesses going down the pan. (In the present climate)

Our place it’s still job and knock. Should be finished and on they way home by 0315, would have been earlier but problems on M6 J18-16 has meant a small diversion that has added 22 minutes, and we are paid until 0445. They guarantee us 1.5 hours OT a shift so we don’t hang it out as they want the trailer back ASAP. It’s also why we double man it.

Wasnt the op wanting to rent a truck from his firm, if so i hope he thinks twice if they cant even give there employed guys work

pubs don’t open untill 12

Ady! Your ■■■■■■ off cause your not doing 80 hours a week!

When I worked for Panic Transport…We were paid 8 hrs regarless of when we finished. I have been on a night out. Got back into yard 0500 in the morning, went home and got paid for the day.
If we worked a 15 hr day the previous day, and got back the next and only work 3/4 hrs. We still got overtime too. Happy days. And they are still operating. :sunglasses:

he needs a tongue as long as mo’s to be getting 80 hours now fella

so you done 6 hours max a shift and got paid for 11…hmmmmm ever wonder why they are no longing trading as corby/innovate? big global firms can get away with it maybe smallish uk firms like corby and innovate would struggle hence your now working for knobbarts fella…

im with ady on this one.

its not ady’s problem if there is no work, if there was he would go and do it. but by making him sit in the canteen for a couple of hours to be spiteful cos thats what it is just being spiteful is plain childish.

ady has been at that depot for quite a few years through different companies doing the same job so he knows the runs he knows the job inside out and also knows they are’nt going to send him out on another run therefore if his run is complete send the driver home. now what his contract says regarding hours is irrelevent he is not being lazy or idle because everyone on here that knows ady, he will bang the overtime in if he can. if his contract is for 10 hours then its for 10 hours simple just because there is no work after 6 hours thats not his fault so why incovinence him sitting on a crappy plastic chair in a canteen just to be spiteful.

If we are all honest with ourselves, unless your job is specialised and the drivers labour/skills are costed into the job. We drivers are only being paid for driving. Whatever way your hourly rate or daily rate is offered to you at interview.

To that end, Ady is right to complain about waiting to go home. It all balances out in the long run (in the bosses favour).

Or you could be unemployed cant see the issue your just being asked to be in attendance for your wages …

Wish I was your boss, I’d help you out.
I’d happily pay you for the 5 hours you actually work instead of the 10 hours you want to be paid for.
Would suit you, more time in the pub. And it would save the company a ■■■■ load of money.

But how long before you’d be on here bleating that you’re only getting 30 hours a week instead of 60?
