If it is by s’ Heerenberg then i think it is a Germen tractor from Frans Maas Aken. If i look to the laesenplate i think it is with. The Dutch Mercedes tractors from Venlo and Groningen thy had the name Frans Maas on the spoiler on the roofans are dark blue.
Good man Bert, you certainly know your stuff.
Keep up the great work,on a great company.
I used to deliver in the 90`s into FM Eupen, great gang of lads, very easy going.Whiplash.
I try to go on with the story but it is on the end of my photos. Maybe some English old workmates of Frans Maas U.K. have somewere stil some photos laid up.
From me an English Mercedes Benz 2028 tractor. Photos is taken somewere in Spain in the early 80’s.
Sorry, i fond this photos in the treath: Birmingham and black country firms I hope it is not an prblem that i put them here in this treath.
Heres some pics of Birds,D.J Ponsonby and Frans Maas trucks which i took photos of whilst doing my apprenticeship at Keltruck West Bromwich, happy days indeed!!,and also whilst driving for Birds.
Is this an Lager in Birmingham of Frans Maas U.K.■■ Who knows it and can tel me.
In the 90’s Frans Maas Groningen sold the motortrucks. Most of thoose truck became an new owner in Polen of Russsia. This one i fond on Internet and is agen to sale. Now with Russian license plate. Stil with the name Frans Maas on it. Also the ofsetunits with the name on it.
Bert, so frustrating, again! I was in Russia a couple of weeks ago, and on the Moscow ring road, in almost the exact same place I saw one in last time, I saw an old Dutch Frans Maas Daf, still with the name Frans Maas on it, and it was pulling a FM tilt trailer too. I got my camera out as it came towards me, and unbelievably a truck drove in front of me as I took the picture! So yet again, I see an old Dutch Daf in Moscow and don’t get a picture of it! Maybe next time !
Hi Nick, It is frustrating if you want to make an photo and it is not possibly. That samthing else is in the way. The same if you want to make an photo wen you ar driving. You to slow of to quick of you move the camera to must. I know the problem.
But stil thanks that you think for this subject about Frans Maas on this forum.
I fond agen on internet an ex DAF 95 XF tractor from Frans Maas Groningen with an East Europe license plate.

Office Frans Maas and lager near the Waalhaven in the end off the 70’s.
Hello Bert,
Was this office very close to Poel Man Weg? I used to go with my Dad to Ribro BV in the Waalhaven, and I’m sure that the FM and Damco offices were very close to there - I think they were very close to a railway crossing where you turned in from the main road?
I remember there being a truckstop restaurant near there as well - WAC Waalhaven? Do you happen to know where that was - I’m going to Holland in two weeks on holiday, and would like to have a quick visit to that area to see how much it has changed over the last 30 years!

Hi Poacher58,
Thanks for the info about Kevin Bradley, Sheba, Alan Southall and Tommy Nichol of Roadway International Haulage.
Nice to get contact to you. Sorry it took more time to find the info about this office. Yes it is in the area of the Poelman weg. From the Poelman weg it is on the corner to the left. The office building is stil there and is now agen to rent.
Also there was an Truckstop on the corner of the Waalhan z.z. and the Heiplaatweg. In the past i have there in mine Frans Maas time spent samtimes the night there. More to the right 2 streets on there was also an Truckstop. In mine time you had 2 truckstops. This seceond Truckstop is now used by East Europe drivers who standing samtimes more than an week.
The last years you have an new Truckstop on the other side of the motorway. Distryservice it cold. New building and good food.
That area is now changing old buildings are scapt and new buildings are build. In 30 years plenty is change.
The old office in good times.
Same building in 2010.

Here you see the Poelman weg .
Now you have the railway on the bottem of the photo.
Gary have an good time here in the Netherlands and an good holiday.
Yes, I remember it well now. One of the places that we used to go to to eat was called ‘Toko St Job’, if I remember correctly. I’m sure the WAC Wallhaven place was somewhere around the Short Sea Terminal area, so would probably tie in with being near Heiplaatweg. I think the last time I went in there was Tuesday 14th April 1981 - I remember this because I watched the Space Shuttle Columbia land on TV after her maiden flight!
Thanks for the good wishes, very much looking forward to going back to Nederland!
