Yes you may be considered as English poerson and I did not say you are not. But we spoke about nationality and that is different.
As i said about Bradford Muslim she was British English the same as you are.
How can it be different? Jeez you really are an idiot. A dog is born in a stable. Is he an horse?

So what it says in your passport again ? British. I just try to agree with you but you can see it does not work. A person that was born in Maidsone is not Maidstonish or Kentish. It is British.
So do we have British Olympics or English Olympics this year ?
Is that Bradford lady not British than because of the colour of her skin or her roots ?
Creme Fraiche.

A person born in Yorkshire will often refer to themselves as a Yorkshireman, as many on here do. Google England, it’s a country and as I said a distinct legal entity in many respects. Therefore if someone wants to identify as English they can, whatever it says on their passport. But that irrelevant as your looking at things in far to a simplistic black and white way.
Oh and the Olympics? They are not called the British or English Olympics. It’s the London Olympics, or London 2012. Despite many events happening outside London. See, the world isn’t black and white.
It’s like shooting fish in a barrel
And twice as fishy!
I was born in the East Riding of Yorkshire which makes me Yorkshire born. Yorkshire is an English county which is split into three pieces known as Ridings or Thirdings. The country of England joins the countries of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
These 4 countries make up The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and have been called that since 1927, previously it was The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland
Mr Strood, try telling the racegoers at the Cheltenham Festival that they are not Irish, or walk into any pub this weekend and try and tell the St Patrick day followers that they are British and not Irish.
I am English and bloody proud of it
I am not a Muslim, a Catholic or a Christian, that is simply a religion so a Bradford Muslim is still English if she was born in my country.
I notice that you use the American spelling for Realise, did you learn the language from them? As you will probably know, the Americans cannot spell properly, they miss letters out, like Color, Flavor and Valor

Tire, plow, dialog; Its just a facade so they can cheat at scrabble.

Yes I did start my English language from learning American English but since I live in the UK I do preffer British English version.
And yes again I have to agree with you in the way that most people feel They are English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish but this is not my point. It is History that makes them and you to feel this way but officialy all of them are British. Lewis Hamilton does not represent England. Am I right.
Lewis Hamilton represents Britain in a worldwide International sport, but he is English, David Coulthard is Scottish and Eddie Jordan is Irish.
Do we have a British football team?
Lewis Hamilton represents who he wants because F1 isn’t really about nationalities competing. Its teams and drivers. Your really struggling with these sports analogies aren’t you.

Take than London 2012 Olympics and tell me that they do not represent GB but England OK
When you go abroad do you go to English embassy or British ? Or maybe you go to British embassy but to the department of England

You didn’t answer Wheel Nuts point about the English football team. I stand by my previous point that your seeing things in far to black and white a fashion and your very single minded.
You live in England dont you? Answer this - Should you end up in court the law of which country will apply?
And not so long ago you were calling it the British Olympics. Realised you got it wrong then?

You are right, there is no British football team.
Explain to me as you seems to be only resonable person on this thread. How can you be Officialy English if at the time when you were born there was no Self governed country of England with it’s own army. Do you have English army than ? Maybe I am wrong IMO that is historically that people call themselfs English etc.
Mr Strood I suggest you toddle off, pour yourself a whiskey and get a good book on the history of this fantastic country. It’ll be worth it, our history is amazing. I recommend Simon Schama

Yes I did. I made a mistake that time.

You are right English law would be the one that will apply.
Maybe I am wrong due to the time that I arrived to this soil it was called Great Britain.
Well in theory it is self governed since the seat of power is the Parliament in Westminister. Scotland and Wales to a greater or lesser extent govern themselves in many area and have a parliament and assembly respectively. It is perfectly acceptable to call yourself English. Or Welsh or Scottish for that matter. The army is a totally irrelevant point. Passport is British yes but as I’ve said it’s not so black and white. People are the nationality they feel they are and as England is a country they can call themselves English. Personally I usually refer to myself as British but this is because if asked abroad saying Welsh can confuse people. Britain is just a union of previously independent countries. And maybe independent again soon.
Thank you for making that more clear for me although I am not convinced with what you are all saying.
And if I can have a last word about London Olympics to Mr. Swith - which flag is going to wave on mast during the games ?
May you all have a good night.
