This End of the World has to be true.
If in Russia there is 200 km long traffic jam due to snow like that:
imagine what it will be in the rest of Europe…

You’re not in Russia so why are you blabbing ? You wanna see snow then get your lazy arse out here , and bring a shovel .
Well said
What a snappy miserable lot!
Aren’t they just!
with my luck i would be at the back of that queue. with no ■■■■ or beer.
Try Norway for snow ! i lived and worked out there for 5 yrs, no salt on there roads its against the law…studded tyres and chains…earth moving gear roaming round town centres moving tons of snow straight into the water fjords…you just drive round them…but everyone gets on with it…we get an inch here and its chaos …
Its only chaos here because few people fit the correct winter compound tyres, put proper tyres on (studs seldom if ever needed here) and teach people to drive not to just pass tests and 99% of the inevitable aftermaths of our usual moderate snow fall would vanish.
I’ve run winter marked tyres for some years now on my own cars during the season, once you’ve experienced them you won’t go back, not just for snow/ice but the traction in all cold wet conditions is astonishing, bought carefully during the summer they can be found reasonably cheap.
If a ran my own lorry i’d have a drive axle set and run them for the 3 months needed, they’d last 5 years easily.

Studs not allowed on our roads.
Hi all.Even up here in parts of Scandinavia some areas are forbidden for studded tyres. So far up north where i am it’s not a problem and we have dispensation to have them fitted for longer as the winters last longer.[Oct-Apr].We also have studded tyres on some of our trucks. This is mainly because they also are used as snowploughs.
As a poster said,in Scandinavia and North America you aceept that winter comes every year and live and cope with it.
As a side note more people in middle Scandinavia are going over to ‘friction’ tyres,These are studded tyres without the studs but using the same rubber compound. The best are Nokian hakkapellita,But they are between £150-£200 per tyre.If you have long winters like us with sensible driving you still get 3-5 winters out of them.People on the forums have different views about tyres depending where they live in Europe BUT eveywhere has winter and it seem the last few years have become more unpredictable so what is cheaper,an expenditure for tyres spread over 5winters or the cost of delays and accidents.Mike
As a whole though i think the country copes fairly well, certainly in the south we only get snow a couple of times over the winter so its hard for people gain good skills for driving in the snow.
We get a lot of snow here in Spain much to the surprise of many people who only think northern europe suffer it. we had the first taste of whats to come last week. This was filmed last thursday afternoon about an hour out of Santander heading towards Palencia:

What ‘snow’. It’s not like the road is covered in 5 foot snow drifts.

I said the “first taste” of what is to come. if you look you will see the snow poles at the side of the road, for when it gets really interesting.

I meant the ‘snow’ that caused the great ‘Russian’ traffic jam.
I see what you mean.
Hi all.I was amused just having read the sky news when they said that the uk UK was ‘bracing’ itself for bad weather as there is a forecast for snow and the temp is set to’‘plummet to an arctic -5c’‘.Is it any wonder that the whole country panics when you read such utter crap.
Up here today the temp has risen to a warm -15c but is set to go back down to -25 tomorrow,’'Oh well,at least we’re guaranteed a white xmas. Mike
All snow is melted, it’s raining and there is that crappy mud everywhere. But I love winter I want to Norway

Yes it is very dramatised in this country but we cant prepare for it like other countries as it doesnt happen very often so when it does theres not much anyone can do about it.
I couldn’t give a flying f… about the snow !!!
That’s what days off are for. I’d rather be sat a home warm than out in the car/lorry trying to drive around idiots that don’t know how to drive.
