How would you describe yourself

Uk test is much harder than the Canadian or USA one which is basacly a run round the block turning left then another turning right.

How can anyone honestly think the LGV test in this country is hard.It is a basic driving test.It is no great deal.
Regarding America and Canada I would dispute what you say from personal experience but if you can supply info that it is what you say then maybe it has changed but I have my doubts they would suddenly make it that easy.Did you know it is the town drivers that earn the big money and not the distance guys.
The Germans and the French have the most comprehensive driving tests and the French are tested every few years after passing their tests something that this country badly needs.

I sat the driving test in Canada 3 months ago. Yeah to be fair I had driven artics in the uk so I wasn’t learning from scratch but that’s all it was.

Fair enough that local drivers can earn more pointing the average American rig down an interstate is fairly easy. Dragging one round town all day is aggro

At my age(70) I like to think I am more experienced than most people, having started driving in1963, my first truck being a Thorneycroft. My job now( Trade plater) gives me the oppotunity to drive literally every new truck on the market, which means I have to keep learning all the new ways to operate them .
I have to say that most drivers today are only wheel turners, and will never be what we old schoolers regards as drivers.
This is not their fault, but they haven’t got to do what we were taught to do,I.E. roping and sheeting, changing our own wheels, helping anyone who was broken down. unless they are in a particular jobvery few ā€œdriversā€ know how to rope and sheet properly, In our day we ALL had to rope and sheet…as part of everyday work.

Willing to learn, every day is different, even if it’s the same

i’m a bit of a perfectionist - so nothing will ever be good enough which is why i seek out all the best bits and learn from them. i by no means know everything so tend to accumulate a lot of advice / hints / tips. when i ask about things i take on board the answers and learn from them. currently got my head in the ocr ocpc books…

Why didn’t you say it was only an upgrade.I understand what you are saying now.The initial test is still more comprehensive than ours though.

It’s the same test you sit no matter.

You’re never to old to listen to good advice…
