im sorry clifton but i get sick and tired of drivers not wanting to do this, that or anything to be honest, youre paid to work ,the job is not/or never has been 9-5 even though alot seem to think it is,ive always said the same thing to ex,s,g.f,daughter,ILL SEE YOU WHEN I SEE YOU,how can you be tired, you sleep for 3/4/5 + hours in the day while your waiting for a collection,i mean i struggle to sleep some nights as ive had my share of kip in daytime.
as for swearing at you, mine dont swear at me to be honest, but then they know as long as its legal i do it,but they always say thanks mate, owe you one, i find its best to turn up,do job, keep quite and go home, anything for a quite life
there u go from my op i states that id have been pushing to get it done in 15 if the last drop they wanted me to go on had no empty trailers i would have ran out of time n in as the office did not know if there was any emptys they are technicly planing me out of time which last time a checked was not allowed as for sleeping on the bunk not often i get to sleep when bein tipped its either live tip / load or hand your keys in an sit on some god awful steel chair for 3 hrs
i understand what your saying clifton but did you tell them at your interview you wanted to be home every night and you only want to do 12/13 hrs per night, the reason i ask is i hear the same every day,i only want 10 hrs per day,i dont want any o/t,i dont want multi drops,i dont want early starts,i dont want late starts,i have to be back by 12 a.m to pick mrs up from work etc, etc, when i ask them did they bring all this up on interview the answers always NO, but 2 mins after theyve arrived they want the firm, the other drivers to fit in around them.
its not a dig at you,its just i get fed up hearing drivers whove took the job ,wanting it changed 2 mins later to suit them.if drivers dont want nights out, long nights 15 hrs then tell them at interview stage, youll probally not get job,but then youll not have a problem over doing nights out,and planners swearing at you.
i get what your saying pal it is annoying and i aint like that i do a good day/nights work an go home im not a tramper so unless asked the day before il never do a night out and il do a 15 if needs be but this job could have seen me run out of time and i run out of time for nobody these days i spent to long in the past sat on services waiting to get picked up etc i just wont do it anymore the penny dropped a while back that if i cant get it done an back in time [zb] the drop an come home an thats how i work these days its my prerogative to be in my house once my shift has finished not sat on services waiting to be picked up thats just my view though
i just wonder clifton how your going to go on if the job goes ■■■■ up,motorway closed etc etc and your 200 miles from home and out of hours, you might be a day shift driver but your going to have to have a night out unless its lock it,taxi, train ,im a day shift driver, but ive never been given a days notice,if it goes ■■■■ up its a night out, which is why i always carryn a night out bag with me.that said its once in a blue moon

having been driving class one for thirty years first bad experience i had was with a planner swearingon the phone to me i said dont [zb] speak to me like that and banged down the phone he appoligised soon as i got back and nevver insulted me again from what ive learned in this industry is the more you do the more they expect i just tell them a straight no i see many drivers being used like a visa card ill do that then they complain about how many hours there working when i have early finishes there still racing about up and down the motorways
id say the opposite, the driver who just gets on with the job[yes men according to some] get treated alot better than the dont want to do anything[no men].
NO man asks for holiday at short notice,no none avaliable
YES man, asks for holiday at short notice ,yep, well sort it for you, dont mind doing it for you
NO man,i need to be back early as something on,told yes well sort it,15 hrs later hes just got back
YES man, something on can i get a short day,no problem mate, dont mind doing it for you.
NO man,any o/t shifts going,NO
yes man,any o/t going,no but weill try and sort something, phone call through day, thurs if you want it.
all firms are different and may do things differently but i find they look after the drivers who get on with job with minium fuss, rather than the ones who just can do a job without it becomming a soap opera
