Full weekly rest was over the weekend of 27th october counting for the week 22 to 28 october
Reduced weekly rest today which counts for the week 29 oct to 4 nov
For a full weekly rest to count for the week 5 to 11 nov it must be started by 2359 on 11 nov

The OP can start at 0600 tomorrow and start a reduced 24 rest next tue at 0600 til wed 0600 then work until sun 11th 2359 at which time a full weekly rest must be started

I think the point he’s making Del is that you need to have one full weekly rest in any fortnight, you can have as many reduced ones as you like as long as you satisfy that rule.

I do no about that but the regs state you can’t count two rests in one week in, so the 24 hour break would be fine but that all it is a break not a rest, the rest Rog is saying is due on 11:59 11/11/12 would mean the drive has done 11 days without a recored 45 hour rest

A rest period which is at least 24 hours and those hours above the daily rest requirement are not counted as payback hours IS a reduced weekly rest
just because it is a reduced weekly rest does not mean it HAS to be counted for the week it is in
A driver can have many reduced weekly rest in one week but can then CHOOSE which COUNTS as the ONE for that week - that does not mean the other are not weekly rests

When you say your last full weekly rest period was at the weekend presumably you mean it was immediately before you started work on Sunday so you had a regular 45 hour weekly rest period last week.
If that’s the case you are having a reduced weekly rest period of 32 hours finishing tomorrow for this week and can then start a new set of six 24 hour periods.
Obviously you will need to start either a regular or reduced weekly rest period no later than 144 hours from when you start work tomorrow but your next regular 45 hour weekly rest period must start no later than 23:59 Sunday 11/11/12.
The compensation for today’s reduced weekly rest period should be completely paid back no later than midnight Sunday 25th November.

Any rest period of at-least 24 hours is a reduced weekly rest period, you can have as many reduced weekly rest periods as you like in a single week but only one needs compensating for

i thought you were aloud 6 consecutive 24 hour periods on the bounce…if i have 20 hours off inbetween each shift i cannot fit them into 144 hours(presuming i worked more than 4 hours each day)
if i work 0600 till 1800 on day 1, then have 20 hours off ,does my second 24 hour period start when i recommence work…or 0600 on day 2

Oh dear i can see this all starting again !!! (thats not aimed at you BTW commonrail).
Here’s the facts, make your own mind up …
A twenty four hour period begins when you start work, insert you tachograph or start your duty, whatever way you wanna word it, not only that, your actual 24 hour period can be less than 24 hours.
VOSA’s interpretation of “6 24 hour periods” for the purposes of weekly rest is that they are indeed of 24 hours length and they are consecutive, in other words they equal 144 hours. So although the actual legislation says …must have weekly rest after no more than 6 24 hour periods, VOSA’s interpretation is that you must have a weekly rest after 144 hours. Confusing eh?
24 hour periods is defined, hours are defined (or al least assumed to be hours !!) and counted but come the mysterious weekly rest scenario working periods and 24 hour periods magically turn into a limited hourly reference period !!!
And even though all this confusing new(ish) legislation is meant to enhance social and working conditions of drivers people actually believe its designed to fit in as many shifts as you possible can into this 144 hour period, thus making your working week, social and working conditions generally ■■■■ !!! Compared to what it was when it unequivacally stated ‘after no more than 6 driving periods’.
…and breathe out !!!
