LORRY DRIVER IN JAM AS TRAPPED LORRY BLOCKS OFF VILLAGE

11:00 - 16 May 2008

This is the nail-biting moment when a lorry became trapped between two buildings on a narrow street. The articulated lorry was trying to negotiate its way through the streets of the village of St Cleer, near Liskeard in South East Cornwall, yesterday morning, when its cab got jammed between a hairdresser’s and a cottage.

A police spokesman said the lorry, which became stuck opposite the post office, displaced overhead power cables and a cable was left resting on the cab, causing a power cut to nearby homes.

Norma Riddler, who works at the post office, said the lorry had caused traffic chaos.

She said “I came through the village with a car and couldn’t get through. The road was completely blocked.”

Western Power were called out to fix the cables and restore power to the buildings.

Another lorry arrived to tow the stricken vehicle away and the road was cleared at 1.30pm.

The police spokesman said satellite navigation did not play a part in the incident.

as the ladies where waiting for there hair rinse rumour has it they where heard to say we have had bigger than that in here whats all the fuss,

see you popped in for a haircut while you was waiting

Doesn’t look like it was being reversed out, looks like turning in, plus the powerlines being knocked down

I bet the rest off the drivers won’t let u forget that in a hurry.
