An Eddie Stobart driver. Yep, thats right. Ive been working for them for the last 3months. All you hear is total [zb]. Dont think theres an easier job out there. You wont be taking home 700-800 a week for tramping but what you get is an avarage to any other player in the game. When overtaking you might get a flash, when being overtaken and you flash you moght get a thank you, most of any other driver will think that you are the biggest 5■■■ out there and the respect that you had before you can forget all about it. Today i pulled out of a parking bay in the service area and was turning right, therefore couldnt see what was going on on the left and the other driver was tanking round corner and slammed his anchors on and gave me the dirtiest look ever as it was my fault when he got next to me. Well anyway have a good evening and just because i drive a green wagon dont mean that im not one of you… ta ta
Good lad

I started for a new company a good few weeks ago. Lots of guys flash and wave at me, well the lorry to be precise. I flash and wave back, even though they don’t know me and I don’t know them.
Just politeness.
I personally think stobarts drivers become too self important when they become Part of the green brigade, why should anyone flash you in?
Why should we all give you a little smile because your working for stobarts?
If someone doesn’t flash me in or doesn’t smile at me when I look at them I wouldn’t come on here crying about it,but a stobarts driver will…don’t be so needy mukka.

I think Stobarts are just another transport firm, but with an outrageously high opinion of themselves… which they actually believe.
As for their drivers, I have not got a problem with them. Apart from the ones that also believe the crap, of which I have come across very few.
I’d want an extra fiver an hour to dress in that green regalia. They don’t flash you in because they are having a ■■■ and tweeting their locations. Oh dear. I don’t tell my traffic office where I am, let alone the general public [emoji6]
I have no problem with the driver’s and always flash them in. There are decent people and not so decent people in this world.
I’d never work for them though, as they take the ■■■■ out of their drivers by paying ■■■■ poor wages.
Not met a Stobarts driver that had a high opinion of himself or the company. In fact, the ones I have spoken too are very critical of said company. One guy in Newcastle just pointed to his trucks fleet number “Thats who I am to the company” he said.
lol £700 for a 96hr week = £7.29 a hr yes you are always at work from the time you clock on till the time you clock out
green or blue truck
Who thinks it is a bit of a parody that
(a) The public hate truck drivers in general, but love Eddie Stobart
and
(b) The Drivers hate Eddie Stobart in general, but don’t sing the praises of the paragon yard in which they work
and
(c) Eddie Stobart drivers have got a job, wheras the un-paragon yard with all the moanie drivers might not have for much longer…
What’s to be afraid of? What is the crappy end of working for Stobarts? If the drivers are considered “inferior” - then surely getting in there yourself would have you pandering to the Julius Caesar argument of “I’d rather be chief of a Barbarian tribe - than second in Rome”…
If there are bonuses to be had for things the driver can actually control (like “good, safe, economical and ethical driving”) then surely that is a GOOD thing if you are a GOOD driver?
On the other hand, bonus payments that get knocked on the head when you get stuck in traffic jams, your shift mate doesn’t wash the truck, or you have to take a detour and kill your fuel bonus - are not so desirable…
Have you met dozy yet? I’m sure you two wallopers will get on like a house on fire. He thinks the world is against him aswell.
Good on u mate!!! I get annoyed with the people moaning about there drivers on here! I have not been driving long but my 1st or 2nd day I needed some help and a stobart driver was more than happy to give me some advice. I have also met a few more when parked up for the night and they are happy to talk to you! I met one who visited this site regularly. Really nice guys. I have not met one who is out of order. Yea some of there drivers make mistakes but I do too and I’m sure plenty of the guys who give out ■■■■ do too!!!
Fuel bonus has been scrapped and added onto hourly pay. So you can rev all you want or take a detour as long as youre gonna get there.
I always used to say Stobarts was a marketing company that owned a few wagons, which is partially true. Eddie Stobarts are very good at marketing, which is why they have the general public appeal that very few other hauliers have. But I would never have a pop at a driver working for them, earning his crust any way he can.
Now I’m on with Stobart Biomass its the same. Perhaps it helps that in the Biomass industry, Stobart Group is a smaller player, just an average fish in an average pond rather than the monstrous creature that hunts around general haulage but ‘competitor drivers’ are equally willing to lend a hand and give advice. The spotters are a great help too, I was having the devils own job finding the Biomass part of Widnes the other day and an old boy with his Nikon round his neck told me exactly where to go.
Really the only thing that boils my ■■■■ these days is when I cant get parked up at night because the laybys are filled with wagons with PL and SK and BG on their number plates. But thats a whole different conversation, and one which has been equally done to death.

It might of been scrapped ,or transferred onto hourly rate ,but it’s still being monitored ,I got pulled up for idling over 1 min 9 times in a shift ,there not going to just say it’s gone do as you please ,Rev the guts out of it ,leave it ticking over for 15 mins while you chat to your mate in the morning ,be careful mate your still being watched ( monitored )
