How quick can I get this job done

Nwk- felixstowe( change boxes) - newark ,there saying 12 hrs  ,surely it’s possible too do it quicker ( Felixstowe, never been ,how long too change boxes  ) ,I can live with 10 hrs mon- thurs ,but last shift fri I want to be done by 6 p.m( start 10 a.m ) ,is it possible ,I know fri afternoon can be a pain for traffic but surely I can get from nwk- Felixstowe( change boxes ) - nwk in 8 hrs ,or is this job too good to believe ,I.e end up the normal 15 zb hrs .ta

You could probably shave about 4 hours off that if you tried really hard. I imagine that the regular drivers will look up to you as some kind of driver guru, a hero for them to emulate.

Surely that’s how they’ll see it isn’t it?

If its anywhere like where I am and you carve the job up like that you’ll not be there long. However container ports are one of those places where you can either be straight in and out or sat there waiting for hours. Just depends on what was on the ship and when its wanted.

Dozy? Why would any class one driver, :sunglasses: restricted to a top speed of 90 clicks  WANT TO BE QUICK? on a Friday ( aka wacky races day? ) :grimacing:

I reckon it’ll take minumum 4 hour drive there by time you’ve swapped your box, 45 off and at least 4.5 plus a 45 and whatever it takes you to crawl up the a14. It’s a crap road at the best of times but Friday’s are crap every single time I’ve driven it :imp:

When they eventually cut the job time back it will be inevitable Drivers will lose money, which they will, you and other Drivers wont have an argument because all that will be said is "dont say it can`t be done because its been done"
When other Drivers find out it was that Dozy sod who slashed the running time, bet you will be very popular,

A14 around where the M11 joins - Huntingdon after 1500 hrs FORGET IT!

Every Friday I was running in, if I wasn’t past there by 1500 I was moaning like a virgin on Prom night!

Which is why I jacked in being out in Kent all week.

Its like asking how long a piece of string, every driver knows no 2 days are the same with traffic etc,bit of a daft post to be honest, how to carve a job up basically :unamused:

Yea you can do it in 8 hrs    ,as for what the other drivers think I really couldn’t care less what they think ,if they want to spend hours tossing it off at the docks good luck too them,my only thought about going on this job was too reduce my hours from 70/80 ,13/14/15 hrs to as low as I can get ,8 suits me fine ,I’m not going too stay out there for 4 hrs longer just so I can be one of the boys .
When there sat on the docks ,layby ,doing 45 mph I’m at home ,may not suit them, you but it does me .

8 hrs you can do ok ,but fri to come ,that will be the deal breaker for me ,if you mean the firm will get rid of me for doing the job too fast , I doubt it Connor ,if you mean the other drivers will     ,most are of my thinking ,50 hrs pay for 40 hrs work :exclamation: :exclamation: ,it’s more a race too see who can get back quickest not who can drag the most out the job

I’ve done my time in the trenches,I want as short hours as I can get ,I don’t need too and don’t want to be doing 12 hrs shifts when I can do 8 hr shifts ,I’d much rather be home a hour early than be still driving up the a1 at 45 mph :unamused: :unamused: .

So what would you do
Home by 6
Shower / tea
Down pub by 8
Few hour with mates
Or out there until 10
Come home ,shower ,bed
I don’t call it carving the job up ,I call it been there ,seen the light and now don’t need too do the hours, don’t want to do the hours, and want to make as much of my time ( down the pub  ) while I’m hear .
Just because the other drivers all want the hours ,doesn’t mean I have too live my life for them .

Yes I’ve gotva feeling your right , but I’m looking at alternative routes ,but it does look a tall order too do it in 8 hrs on a fri, rest of week is do- able ,got to be carefull though as I don’t want a pic of me and my box on its side plastered all over this place

Your in the wrong job then

If you want an 8 hour a day job why don’t you go and find one? Instead of potentially screwing a job up for others? Nothing wrong with wanting to do 8 hours many people are the same but its somewhat selfish to go to a place and possibly shaft the other drivers who unlike you may not be able to afford to do just 8 hours a day. Go work for a supermarket or something.

Agree with switch logic. 20 years at Royal Mail seen plenty of your type there me me me me sod the rest. That’s why you get your mail late now they out there all day doing 3 rounds in one because of people like you LOOK AT ME BOSS I DONE IT QUICKER THAn the OTHERS wrong job go to a clothes factory and be at home as a STITCHER

I really couldn’t care less what the boss thinks or the other driver come too that, you’re right I’m thinking of me ,me doesn’t want to drive everywhere at 45 mph,me doesn’t want to have 3 breaks a night in lay-bys ,me doesn’t want to hide on the docks etc etc .
Me just wants to just get done and go home ,go out and enjoy my life .

When everyone starts doing 40hrs instead of 50 then it’ll be 40hrs work for 40hrs pay. The company won’t pay 10hrs they don’t need to for long especially if fuel goes up again. I’ve seen it happen at a place where I’m at where they pay an amount per run. When lots of drivers started doing it under that then the time got dropped.

If you want 8hrs go drive for a builders merchant.

On a night run, that could easily be done in 7.5 hours, but could take longer depending how long your under the gantry and where your boxes are

Screw the lazy zb who take an extra 4 hours on the job…

Take your time, not the ■■■■

15 min on break when in the office then 30 min under the hook yeah 45 mins off there :unamused:
