How not to overtake

The police won’t do anything; they’ll say there’s insufficient evidence. :unamused:

£10 says this ■■■■ (rhymes with punt, starts with C) is still licenced to drive HGVs.

I was right and the driver has been banned. They were warned about him months ago

How do you know?

Because he was one of my reasons for leaving that contract. I wasn’t willing to work at the same place as him for the simple reason that his luck would run out, he would get caught and the whole depot would be looked at. That video was shown to management last night and he was banned off all Iceland sites by this morning. That road was officially off limits to us but it was ignored. now it is going to be enforced

So he hasn’t been “banned” like he should be then?

I get embarrassed by things like this
Do you think he might thought he was on a d/c? That is easily the worst clip ever

It only happened a short while ago, certainly only went viral and got posted to Iceland in the last few days. IF the details are passed on to the police it’s going to take time for anything to happen but tbh, I wouldn’t hold your breath on getting any news of a result.

He has done that trunk dozens of times so he knew exactly where he was. He just doesn’t like taking 2 breaks. His tacho would be an interesting read for VOSA. Perhaps not on face value (I don’t know) but matching it to the vehicles and timesheets would definitely bring up discrepancies. He was banned from that trunk because of them but I guess it got lifted. Smart move :unamused:

I think what we hate most about this type of thing is that we all get tarred with the same brush in the eyes of all those near ‘victims’ of his, for all the good decent driving we try our best to practice, the courtesy and endless patience of most are undone in what 20 seconds of monkey antics from a bloke who does not deserve to hold a lorry licence at all (if ever there was a real life case of a bloke driving on a forged licence this is definately a prime suspect), now a viral video for every car driver to add to any anti lorry prejudices.

I hope the coppers do their best to track this twerp down and nick the arse off him, if he’s still around and hasn’t scarpered.

That’s what I thought.

ScannyFanny saying he’s “been banned” is a little misleading.

He’ll still be on the road, just with a different trailer.

Misleading in what way? I said nothing at all about any authorities being informed or any convictions. He was banned from site overnight. The courts take a bit longer and I have no idea if he has been reported to the police or is likely to be. This is assuming he has an entitlement to drive in the UK. I don’t know if he has a UK licence and I don’t know how long he has been here or how long he can drive on a foreign licence

Anyone know the road? Looks like it’s Scotland

Yes , road is A 706 , heading from Breich to Forth .
You can make out South Lanarkshire sign on left hand side . This is entering South Lanarkshire from West Lothian , where entrance to Levenseat landfill / recycling site is

As area is mostly moorland type , there is not a great ammount of decent verge to go on to , some of the verges fall steeply away from roadside .

The less said bout those trying to find excuses for driver the better :open_mouth:

That confirms my initial suspicion then. I reckon its a driver from one particular agency. It looks like a hired unit and Warrington trailer. Livingston only had 1 tri-axle a few months ago and it has skirts along the side their own drivers aren’t stupid enough to pull that stunt. Blue arrow and ADR drivers aren’t bad which leaves one agency and its run by a man who I wouldn’t brake for he stepped in front of me. Very few decent drivers will work with him

Also it’s a barn door which is the exception rather than he rule as most trailers are roller shutter( at my ex depot, Warrington and Enfield anyway).

scanny77:
Misleading in what way?

Saying he’s “been banned” when in fact he’s only been stopped from working on that particular agency contract.

To me (and I’m sure a lot of other non-agency TruckNet members) being “banned” means something entirely different.

I’ve done this stuff on Euro Truck Sim 2 but I’d never thought I’d seen this happen on the road for real.

scanny77:

I ain’t standing up for this ■■■■ he WILL kill some poor sod eventually ‘‘driving’’ as he does and should have his license suspended until he has a re.test.

However the comment by scanny illustrates how rules to make roads safer has in this case and regularly does in others, have the opposite effect.
This knob was teararsing to get the run done faster because he did not want to take 2 breaks, ironically a rule made to increase safety in theory.
It’s the same if you find yourself running late so you need to break the speed limit to get to your planned o/night park before your driving time runs out, or you end up parking in a bloody lay by. So the rules designed for safety become a paradox of themselves, to the point where the rules are the reason for unsafe driving. The virtual zero tolerance towards going over your time by minutes which has evolved over the years do not help the situation either, I know the printout sorts things out, but that is as long as you don’t have a disaster in those few minutes over.
Maybe going off thread a bit here, but it’s a valid point, however not valid enough to excuse the driving in the clip.

Lol. I actually meant if the poster was you in disguise blaming agency

(…) he was banned off all Iceland sites by this morning. (…)

If he just banned from Iceland, he will go to and another firm to drive. Iceland transport office should inform all the agencies, and other transport firms about this driver. His name, dot,etc need to be forwarded to ASDA,Tesco, Poundland etc.

So Scanny, was he a known knob anyway before this escapade? If so why didn’t Iceland refuse him before now (I infer from your posts he is an agency bod).

i was in a hurry to post the update and did not have time to take regional dialect into account. banned from site would have been more accurate but had it been his licence i would have said something completely different to avoid confusion eg he lost his licence, got points and fine. i have no idea if any driving charges will be brought but i would like to think so with the amount of condemnation that i have seen here and on facebook. i know who brought it to DHLs attention and i have seen a screenshot of someone else contacting iceland about it but i dont know if it will be shown to the authorities although i personally would not blame them

its been a couple of months since i left but seemingly they have some new tri-axles with barn doors that are only for trunking to warrington. they were using hire trailers but i assume they have bought trailers for that job which is all tied in with the irish contract

this guy has been flagged up many times before and ignored. some of us like it there and we dont want to see people like that but there is not much we can do

Yes, you’re right. I will be sent this link by numerous people cos they know what I do and think that’s how I/we drive. The amount of times I’ve been in a group of people, they find out I’m a driver, then batter me with the elephant racing saga - like we all do it!

I usually say that “side by side” driving is part of the test and we have to perform a certain amount per year or risk losing our licenses, they usually just laugh that off but I did have one guy reply “oh, sorry I never knew that” :unamused:
