No where near enough to run legal and put food on the table, better off to get a beat up old estate car, bung the parcels in the back, sign on the dole and call yersen a ‘life style courier’ …

Don’t think it’s done on day rate in that sort of work, more like paid by the parcel
Yeah…ive heared that…100delivery per day…some of the guys they earn £180,some £150…dont know if its true.

You probably can earn around that…BUT you have van costs, running costs, insurance, wear and tear costs, tax and maybe put some aside for sickness. It’s also quite long intense days from what I gather.
Mate of mine used to drive for Amazon out of one of there own delivery depots, Lets just say he didnt stay there long and he is a proper grafter!! 100-120 drops per day minimum!!
There’s an Amazon depot near us and Christ do they drive like maniacs, they must all have points on their licence’s and there’s no way I’d do that for a living.
Depends on the scheme you go on own van around 130 per day lease about the same but they will diduct 200per week for van and insurance
Just after I started driving for a living I was sent by the Agency to Ripponden Motors, blue cream Renault’s, are they still there? and the bloke came out of the office with a sheaf of notes that would have choked a Donkey “here are your drops” he said “how many are there” I asked, he then said the best line I have ever heard in over 30 years of driving, “130 round Manchester area, then ring in AFTER DINNER for your pick ups” this was 09.00 as it was a call out, I cracked out laughing walked to my car and went home.

They overtake you on the blind bend approaching Amazon’s Warrington site, just so they don’t have to wait 2 minutes behind you at the gatehouse. Utter maniacs like you say.
All the van delivery firms are the same…
Yodel, DPD etc. either don’t care about the rules of the road, or don’t have time to read them!
Amazon logistics make deliveries at all sorts of mad times. From 9 o’clock at night to 8am on a Sunday morning! Your average parcel firm is probably around 100 drops I bet these Amazon guys are double that on some days to still be working at 9pm at night.
They seem to be under a lot of pressure to get parcels delivered too. Gets quite tiresome having someone frantically knock on your door with your neighbours parcels…
try speedlink couriers, they operate countrywide and seem to be good with good rates and pretty sure not multi drop, they have different contracts and can get you return loads 01252 628785,and no I don’t work for them, keeping their details in case my hgv licence goes ■■■■ up in the near future

Hello Blunder Man. I worked at Ripponden for 33 years from 1964 to 1997. What year did you have your unfortunate experience ? I would probably have been there then. The firm shut down in 2007.
Regards. John.
Best day rate I’ve had from Amazon work was £121 plus route fuel between .14 to .16 a mile. its all via intermediaries some as low as £100 / day now.

I was paying just under £2000 for all courier insurances needed on a small Ford Transit Connect and very recently been quoted £1480 and extra for GiT & PL insurance for my three an a half ton Transit on light haulage which would not be any good for multidrop ! Steer clear !
170 drops today please peter and remember if you dont want the job we know someone who does

About 1986 maybe 85?, I always asked how many drops after that but I was lucky and started Driving C+E soon after, I have the greatest admiration for multi-drop drivers, the work is well underpaid for what they do.
When I had full coverage. I was paying 1700 upto 3.5 tonnes incl multi drop and furniture. Currently my 09 kangoo is around 1k all in git and pl for a light haulage policy a 3.5 tonner would be the same on the same policy for similar age. If you lease the van usually a swb vivaro they pay fuel for the run and the 200 per week covers insurance too but it would be cheeper to get your own van and insurance then you. May get 150 per day
