Hi All
Thanks so much for your help on this - banterful or real! haha!
We’re launching a campaign aimed at anyone who used to serve in the Armed Forces - essentially making sure that everyone understand that SSAFA is here to offer support when needed.

We’re launching this at Clacket Lane Westbound Services next Monday morning (12th) bright and breezy at 6am.
Will anyone be there? if yes, pop by and say hello… or perhaps even come over to do a bit of a press interview? Anyone keen?

Cheers, Vicky from SSAFA

A bit off my route and you will get more foreign truckers there than British. Good luck though

Im ex 4624 Air Movements Squadron, RAF Brize Norton, air cargo and passengers, wherever the Royal Navy or Army want to be anywhere in the world we take them there, on Hercules, Boeing C17, Tristar and VC 10, and chartered Boeing 747,and Airbus.
It was odd in exotic and hot places how the plane would break down and the parts would take ages to arrive, but in a horrible location they arrive pretty dam quick and the aircraft is fixed fast, do i detect sabotage by the crew so they can swim with the giant turtles in the Ascension Islands or do some Scuba diving in Belize at the tax payers expense, surely not, we would not dream of doing that.
Royal Marines would go snow training in Norway, and some engineers would fly a plane to Las Vegas to test the engine or a performance check. For a jolly.

mr dixon stobby driver isnt ex forces is he ■■? already for interviews camera angles he is your man…

clacket lane? you didnt do your 7 ps did you? of course a truckstop rather than MSA might be a better place to find truckers. they seem to spend more time there than some dump of a services on a motorway

I’ve a brainy mate who rose significantly through the ranks in the Royal Artillery without firing any artillery piece (or whatever ‘big-guns’ are politically called)

I recall this whenever I’m thirsty for a pint of Best Bitter, which temporarily keeps the ‘need-to-know’ principle intact and my gob shut

Obviously, he hates having told me :unamused:
