How many shunts do you take

… to get onto the bay ■■?

I nearly always take just the one.

I reckon I could hit the spot first time every time if I concentrated, but to be honest half the time I lose track of which bay I should be on until I start backing up … bit of a lazy ar$e I guess

I do, however, like to end up in a dead straight line bang on the line when I apply the handbrake though, all nice and neat.

Are you a first time every time, or a 1, 2 or 3 shunts kind of drive ■■?

First time every time

When I do it in one go the yard is empty … not the same when I ■■■■ it up

If there’s a “Y” in the day,i can’t normally reverse onto a bay first time for toffee!..

When no one is about 1 shunt for a tight blindside
When someone is watching - anywhere between 2 and 20 for an empty yard.

parking is like ■■■, always a few attempts to get it in
but you can always get out in one

I have my good days and bad days…

Driving trucks 10 years and never had to reverse onto a bay!

If it’s a tight bay with trucks either side and assorted obstacles to negotiate I’ll do it in one.

If there’s an acre of space either side and a nice straight reverse I’ll find a way to balls it up

I know what you mean dai I tipped in Newcastle in a scaffolding yard once blindside in off a main road about 200 yards down a narrow pathway with scaffolding and crap everywhere and not one shunt needed later on that day I tipped in marks and spencers at bellshil had a empty yard a mile off room was backing up to a bay and for no reason I just turned the wheel and missed the bay god knows why I even done it.

on a night shift always do it in one… any other and it all goes pete tong… some days i look like ive borrowed my dl from a kellogs pack

as many as i need to get where im going…safely.

I rarely do it first time with just over or about 3 shunts being the norm
i seem to do better when its tighter and i have to leen out the window
but i cant do that for long as it hurts my neck
and i am not a contorshenist
so i use the mirrors as soon as i am heading in the general direction of the bay
but the trailer goes all over the place

Normally 1.

BUT, have been known to take a few - and not just when I was a n00b either.

Also, I rarely managed to do it without a shunt when I was on a-frames, them ■■■■■■■ be tough

I take as many or as few shunts as it takes to get onto the bay without hitting anything.

To be honest I don’t get the question, I’ve backed onto easy to get onto bays first go and backed onto a bay that was previously left vacant because no-one wanted to have a go and needed a few shunts.

I’m sorry but anyone who says they always get onto a bay first attempt has never had to get onto difficult to reach bays.

And maybe just a little full of crap :grimacing:

About 20

About 20

Is that with or without an Eminox stuck in the fuel tank :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

As many as it takes the important thing is that you get on without damaging anything surley, rather than a willy waving contest about how many shunts
