Oh No, not a Rice Crispie Tester
Iām ex RCT served 10 years then bought myself out. Joined the junior leaders regiment when i was 16 and half and loved āmostā of my time in there
The best thing i couldāve done for myself
Ex REME, did 7 years and left 6 months ago.
Served in Iraq, Kosovo, cyprus, canada and germany. Currently considering to join the TAā ā ?
Oh No, not a Rice Crispie Tester
thatāll be Rickshaws Cabs and Taxis if you donāt mind
Or as a workmate of ours - also ex-Army - described it the other dayā¦Reckless [zb]s in Trucksā¦
Forced to edit self for language!!! L.
Rikkiās ex-RCT
As Lucy correctly pointed out I am ex -RCT⦠and proud of it, its a crying shame that the RCT is now merely a part of the Really Large Corps
Spent a lot of time painting Trucks with red lead, then green and then adding a bit of black, and thenstarting again, interspersed with enthralling periods of sweeping vehicle parks
best thing ever happened in my army career was to get posted to a brand new unit, joint RAF/Army and learning to undersling loads for Chinooks, only then did I realise that the army was more than mind numbing boredom and meaningless tasks
proud to say i was in the army. People say your school dayās are āthe best dayās of your lifeā, sorry but i hated school, my army days (or years) were the best ,(single man then) exellent time, made some great friends. Served in the tankās,
Iām ex sqaddie too.
Infantry for 10 years.
Knocked about doing bits and bobs for a while then decided iād had enough, done everything i wanted to do and a bit more.
ā ā ā ā proud of doing what i did (right OR wrong) and thoroughly enjoyed most of it.
Would do it again and will encourage my kids to join because i was a complete ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā when i joined (91, not that long ago) and i like to think it put me on the straight and narrow.
Ex- armoured engineer, 9 years, probably would of done 22 but for bad accident ( 2200 volts did itās bit) but best time of my life.
you made true friends and comrades for life.
I am another of those who took the queens shilling , and spent
a wonderful 16years seeing the world or as my wife will tell you
that i was a little child just playing in the sandpit. ., and only now
am I doing proper job as a international logistics mover.
I am another ex-scalie. I did 12 years then retired, to start a proper job. Unfortunately I ended up as a trucker, oh well, the best laid plans ā¦
I also decided to treat that comment with the contempt it deserved.
I did two years in the cubs ,then went on to do four years in the scouts ā¦still got me woggle somewhere
Joined the Navy in 1967 aged sixteen and half coz mum said to get off my arse and get a job. Joined submarines in 1971 and left in 2001. Managed to see most of the world without getting involved in any wars. Only medal I got was for long service. Took me 34 years to decide I was not going to make a career of it and left to be a truck driver. Worst career move was six months driving busses when I first left. That nearly destroyed what little sense of humour I ever possessed. Monotony and passengers - what a combination. How do bus drivers ever put up with gobby schoolkids and moaning grannies and still do the job for years and years? Happy now Iām driving artics but would be happier if I could get more than the average wage for Cornwall.

I didnāt think they had windows in 'em
So weāve got a sun dodger(Bilgepump).
And a ā ā ā ā ā ā (Rikki), I did that course as well Rikki, best course I ever did in the Army. Throughly enjoyable. Just wish I could have got a posting to JHSU.
ex-Army RCT and RLC Tank Transporter came out and drove trucks for years and am now a Logistics Manager. So we aint all thick you know!
Ex Cheshire Regiment, got out in 91.
me too just 12year though could not see me doing 22 as iād have just about out in the next 2years.
spent most of it training dogs along side the police( mod) and loved it,saw many parts of uk, ireland ( lost all my house as paddy decided to blow it up along with a few others) and most parts of germany.iād love to see the pleb that made that comment on my doorstep and say it to my face, but the closest heās got to the army his his local training depot for DRIVERS
Maybe Conors comment comes from experience of living next to Leconfield and having to put up with the town centre of Driffield on a saturday night.
The local papers tell the story

No sorry mate, I can quite categorically state that:
- It costs far too much in a taxi to go to Driffield and no taxi will take you back.
- Itās a rubbish night out. Beverley and Hull are far better nights out.
- If his comments are based on his experiences in either of these places, I would like to add that, most of the traineeās at leconfield are young men; this country has a problem with young men binge drinking, not just the Armed forces.
They wouldnāt let me in the TA and looking at the plebs that currently make up the British Army, I donāt think Iād want to
I think the clue lies in the first seven words of this sentence
