How many miles to and from work daily?

retired now but during my working life I never had to travel more than 3 miles to work.
either walked or public transport for first few years.

I’m one of the lucky few too - 6 miles to work once a week. I normally get a taxi to save owning a car.

SmashedCrabFace:
Sixteen miles there during rush hour - half an hour.
Sixteen miles back in the dead of night - eight minutes.

Really?

switchlogic:
About 2 feet

Erm according to what i hear off some very knowledgeable drivers’ you should be at least 3 foot away from steering wheel to have a break/weekly rest :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: .
Hope you sleep with your head at least on the passenger side, if not then it’s not considered a break.

About 15 miles. Four times a week

Its a 3 mile round trip to work.

I use the car but really i could use my bike…maybe in the spring!!

1.5 miles round trip my old job was 35 mile round trip every day and included dartford tunnel/bridge. Was getting to the stage I was looking at lower paid jobs due to fuel and toll costs.

45 miles straight down the A14, twice a day and exactly 45 minutes. I have a Jeep, 4ltr LPG, 150 miles to about £30 of Gas. That Agency job fell through after 3 weeks.
Now I only go about 10 miles twice a day.

40 miles round trip at the mo.

27 miles there and 27 back, along m62/m60 Oldham to Warrington most days. some night outs on my job and a week away now every 3 weeks .that helps the petrol situation a bit.

About 4 miles, takes 7 minutes on a quite back road and no traffic lights to contend with, every pay day I put £40.00 of diesel in for the month

16 mile round trip every day except Tuesday which is 20 due to taking my girls to nursery. it costs me about £20 a week in petrol for a 1.8 sri vectra.

D’ya not?:

Nah, it’s his fairly stories again mate…he’s famous round here for 'em. Just wait, he’ll be telling us what a stud he is again in a minute… :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Other defammatory names are available for this individual.

When I used to pull for Tesco regularly on agency, I used to do a round trip of 60 miles, but it was for good money. Other agency jobs on occaision were a fair way further than that, but I made them pay for my fuel and travelling time too (remember that lol).
These days, I just mount my trusty bike and I’m at work in about 12-15 minutes, just the job. :stuck_out_tongue:

when driving 65-75 miles round trip depending which firm I’m on for, rest of the time I just step out the door

I work away from home, so a 525 miles round trip once a week in a Skoda Felicia at 55mpg. Then it’s only a short walk.
I actually spend a lot less time in the car than other colleagues who live within 20 minutes.
Happy New Year everyone
Paul

0.5 on a monday and 0.5 on a friday

10 mile round trip four times per week (I only work Wed-Sat).
I drive a 2.2 litre Mondeo Diesel ST and get about 40mpg!
In the past however, I’ve travelled much further than this, mainly for agency jobs.

17 miles Monday morning and 17 miles Friday lunch time…
