Maybe not as mad as you think.
Its the same with all jobs ,you pay peanuts you get monkeys,look at the state of some blokes on the road,scuffy, moaning,angry ,nasty ■■■■■■■■■■ you have got nice blokes ,tidy ,clean ,genuine good drivers who take pride in their jobs,which driver do you reckon works for a company paying peanuts

a girl I’m seeing does 10pm-7am stacking shelves at waitrose. she pulls in £90 a shift and does the sunday for double bubble.
she does this every day too.

Spelling and counting aren’t jobs though, they’re basic skills that some of us mastered at school.

I think a lot that is deliberate mate. I don’t make a huge effort as many customers will just expect you to do more and more. I get instructions on some tickets “rotate flour/check dates/check totals” etc. Do all that and I end up working longer hours. My job title is “driver” not “driver/storeman.”
Those customers that feed and water me do however, get a higher standard of service than our colonial cousins who just stare at me and say “there, boss.”

You completely missed my point!
When I said a lot of drivers cannot stack stuff properIy I was referring to shedding loads.
When i said about spelling I was talking about some on this forum and presumably their counting is as bad.
I was lucky enough to get decent well paid jobs throughout my driving years and I put that down to having these basic skills and knowing how to be pleasant and well mannered…most of the time.
How hard is it…Drive truck, put on bay, unload, job done

No. But they’re prerequsites to the job sureley? Would you employ a driver who could not stack, spekl and count ?
