Thatās me mate! I have a cushy 37.5 hrs job driving a van these days with max 7 - 8 drops⦠and do two HGV
days per month on the agency just to keep my hand in and top up my crap wages! Lol
Class 1 from 97 but had driven buses previously passing my PSV Class 1 āAll Typesā in 81. Only drive hgv part time now or as relief as I have other interests.
I started driving artics in 1986, I was on a āyoung driverās schemeā at the company I worked for, however nearly three years into the āschemeā a traffic copper on the M6 and the magistrates at Newcastle under Lyme took a dim view of it as it wasnāt an āofficialā scheme and banned me from driving for a month and gave me a good telling off. I turned 21 in 1989 on a Sunday and passed my class one on the Wednesday, which wasnāt as good as it appears on paper as I had almost three years experience by then! The Traffic Commissioner requested my presence at an interview because of my disregard for procedures and I had to promise to be a good boy before he would allow me to have a provisional licence.
In 2008 at the age of 40 I took my class one again, this time in Canada. It was a bit different to the first test, instead of a Ford D series and a single axle 28ft trailer, I had a Kenworth T800 and a 53ft trailer, the result was the same though and I surrendered my British class one and was issued with my Canadian class one.

You guys make me feel young
In 3 weeks I go back to university and feel old again. My HGV entitlement is older than most of my peers
