sent my license to west yorkshire police for my points to be put on 3 weeks ago , not come back so rang up and was told it could be another 5/6 weeks before i get it back due to a court backlog.
Q1 why do the courts get involved, surely they just write points etc on your license, what does a court need to see it for .
Q2 how long can they keep your license , 2 months sounds a bit o.t.t to me
DVLA will be involved too, otherwise you could just have a licence with points and one that is clean

Can’t remember how long they had mine once, but as long as they feel like it. I never had any bother with getting hire cars etc at the time as they can always phone up the DVLA and with your permission let them know the validity of said licence.
