Be it a lorry driver or illegal immigrant? It’s only a matter of time.
sooner rather than later methinks…now that the fences ar up,its easier to walk a Cpl of clicks up the road, and hoarde the carriageway, then just do the same as before…its a pity the media has a blinkered blackout on reporting things in their true light…then misses ,lets send these poor people some caravans for xmas might cop on for a reality pill…how much do you think the property arket has plummeted in Calais now…anyone for a cheapo holiday home??
God knows what they expect to achieve with such blatant boarding. Authorities are doing nothing about it, yet the truck drivers have to run this gauntlet, risking injury to themselves or the immigrants then guess who’ll get the blame!
Hauliers should refuse to go anywhere the place without a massive surcharge to cover damage etc.
Doubt authorities will react even then.
There have already been deaths, on the railways granted.
What would you do if you were the driver of the rigid? Attempt to enter use port and ad accursed of aiding illegals?
Stop and rag them off?
Turn round and drive 100 miles away?
Dilemma.

They’ll cut your Head off if one gets killed and they catch you
close Calais northbound.
divert all traffic through Europoort Rotterdam.
see what happens.

I cant feel sorry for these so called poor people, most are economic migrants who are there because they want a better life for themselves at the uk taxpayers expense, majority of them wont even work if they are allowed to stay in the uk if they get here, what they get In benefits[from what I have see on telly about 180 odd pounds every two weeks]that’s probably more than in their own country, plus free accommodation again at the taxpayers expense, why would they want to work, the hgv driver seen trying to run them down, his camera picked out mostly young men in their late teens, early twenties, they are at Calais at their own choice not because they were forced there,so as I said I don’t feel sorry for them one bit,if they can prove beyond doubt that they face death in their own country then yes give them asylum,if not and they are just trying for a better life at our expense then the sooner they kick them back to wherever they come from the better[now lets wait for the racist accusations]and this wasn’t a pop at you dieseldog999,just my opinion about them,so no offence intended
i know its virtually impossible ,but find another route ,if the port is losing money then something will be done not untill

Zeebruegge or Ostende
If they’ve walked from Syria, Afghanistan or God knows where then the little hike to Zeebrugge or Oostende wont present them with many problems or even Europoort for that matter

+1…none taken,i totally agree with you…even if they were genuine asylum seekers,( which 99% are not) then, that status stopped 500 miles away from france,
Not sure about euro work but how much extra money / time would it cost to use other ports?

There have also been death of them running across the road and hit by vehicles.

What you do at least for the tunnel is get them taken off at the first security check, done by the french, you’d probably have to insist, although being a soft side vehicle it’s likely the truck will be pulled in on that check.
Why don’t hauliers start boycotting Calais. I know other routes are more expensive but surely trucks parked on motorways for hours/days isn’t cheap and when P&O and Calais Port start losing money, the Governments might take notice.

It’s difficult to re-route, other ports only have a handful of sailing to the continent each day, and so they can only handle a fraction of the trucks going through Calais each day. This means when it goes smelly in Calais trying to get on them isn’t easy as there are very few spaces left because they obviously have their regular hauliers.
It won’t be long before those EE either call it quits and stop coming through Calais or they lose their rag and start mowing them down. Spoke to a Romanian driver who does the trip bi-weekly and he said its getting worse.

there are videos all over youtube and live leak of drivers doing just that. swerving into groups of them making them scatter and pulling into services with a load of them on board and giving them a kicking as them and other drivers pull them out the trailer.
can’t say I blame them if they’re dealing with it week in week out. I also see no kids or women in that photo…interesting

Won’t be long before they start bringing out those kids and making human road blocks. Do you then mow them down knowing that there are kids in there or do you hold back and let them climb all over your truck?
